Is a plant-based diet harmful?

Many people have enjoyed the health benefits of adopting a plant based diet. However, any type diet can prove to be dangerous if it's not properly managed. When switching to a plant-based diet, it is important to ensure that proper vitamin and mineral intake is taken, including B12, iron and zinc. Unbalanced diets without adequate replacements can lead to deficiencies and other health problems. Also, a vegan/plant-based diet could result in a reduction of important sources of protein such as eggs and dairy, which can affect muscle maintenance. People who follow a plant-based diet must adapt their diets to meet their nutritional needs.


Can you get enough nutrition from a plant based diet?

Yes, it is possible to get enough protein from a plant-based food. You can get amino acids from legumes, nuts, seeds and grains to help build muscle and keep you healthy. Tofu, and other soybean products, contain all 9 essential amino acid that the body cannot make. Also, vegetables such a spinach, broccoli and kale are rich in protein. They can be combined with legumes to provide the required amount of protein for adequate nutrition. Plant-based proteins are more satiating than animal proteins, and have lower levels of saturated fat. Additionally, adding omega-3 fatty acids in things like flaxseeds, chia seeds, walnuts, or hemp seeds can help balance other essential nutrients on a plant-based diet.


Can I eat chicken while following a plant-based lifestyle?

Yes, it is not possible to eat chicken while on a plant based diet. A plant-based lifestyle eliminates all animal product, including meat, poultry, and fish. There are many vegan alternatives that can replace traditional meat-centric dishes. They have the same texture and flavor, however. Tofu, seitan (wheat flour), tempeh, fermented soybeans, and mock duck made of mushrooms can all mimic traditional meats. Vegetarian burgers made from black beans and quinoa are also comparable to beef burgers. You can also make tasty vegetarian burgers using coconut bacon strips, eggplant bacon bits, tofu mayo, and faux chicken strips made from wheat gluten.


It is possible to switch to a plantbased diet.

It can be intimidating to switch to a plant-based diet, but it is possible. It's possible to slowly transition to a vegan diet, and to adjust your lifestyle to make it more manageable.
