Relyte, LMNT and their Electrolytes

LMNT

The supplements that make up LMNT include magnesium (malate), potassium (chloride), and salt.

The flavoring ingredients are stevia leaf and natural flavors.

Re-Lyte Hydration

Re-Lyte is a combination of salt (Redmond Real Salt), magnesium (malate, glycinate), citrate, chloride, carbonate, and coconut water powder.

The flavoring ingredients are stevia leaf, natural flavors and GMO-free Citric Acid.

Re-Lyte and LMNT both have all three significant electrolytes: sodium potassium and chlorine. Magnesium Calcium Phosphate and Bicarbonate are other electrolytes that the body requires from fluids or foods (source).

You will learn that the top three electrolytes we need in keto are magnesium, potassium and sodium. These must be replenished with food or a supplement.

A side note: Most Americans do not get enough magnesium through their diets.

What is the difference between Potassium Citrate and Potassium Chloride?

It is used to prevent kidney stones, which can occur if someone suffers from gout. It is also used to treat renal stones. The urine is also alkalized by potassium citrate (source).

Hypokalemia (low potassium) is treated with potassium chloride.

These two forms of potassium are not superior to each other.

What is the difference between Magnesium Glycinate & Malate?

Magnesium Glycinate is beneficial for those with diabetes, cardiovascular disease, inflammatory diseases and autoimmune diseases. It can improve sleep quality and neurologic functions.

Magnesium Malate is effective in treating Alzheimer's disease and type 2 diabetes. It also helps with headaches, migraines, fibromyalgia and other conditions.

These two forms of magnesium can be easily absorbed.

Redmond's ReLyte has the benefit of being formulated by experts with a 2:1 ratio of sodium to potassium, as well as magnesium, chloride and calcium, along with 60+ trace elements from Real Salt. The Unflavored version does not contain calcium.

When trying to maintain ketosis, it is important to remain vigilant about this number, as exceeding this can sometimes create an imbalanced state in the body and hinder progress.

Overall, it pays off greatly to stay within the prescribed limits of what a ketogenic diet recommends for optimal health and maximum results when tracking macronutrient content in one's food choices. Doing this will increase the efficiency of your body's breakdown of these macro components to fuel energy production. How much fat is necessary to eat?
