Pure aloe vera is a magical substance that comes from inside the leaf of an aloe vera plant.
Pure Aloe Vera Benefits
This beautiful plant has numerous healing properties. Read on to learn more.
Pure Aloe Vera Delivery Methods
You can consume aloe vera in the form of juice, gel, or pill, and you can use the inner leaf, outer leaf, or both.
Aloe Vera Leaf: Inner or Whole Leaf
When it comes to aloe vera, I stick with the inner leaf, as the outer leaf can be caustic on the digestive system and if overused can lead to the constipation it is supposed to solve.
Anthraquinone from Outer Leaf
This is because the outer leaf of the aloe vera plant contains a substance referred to as anthraquinone, which contains intense, as opposed to gentle, laxative properties.
Types of Aloe: Inner Leaf as a Laxative
Alternatively, the inner leaf of the aloe vera plant has gentle laxative and gut healing properties that are derived from the polysaccharides.
Pure Aloe Vera
While aloe vera contains both monosaccharides and polysaccharides, it’s the latter that are full of important healing properties.
Polysaccharides
One of the main polysaccharides in aloe is acemannan, a bioactive polysaccharide that has these potential benefits:
- Immunoregulation
- Intestinal Health
- Anti-Oxidant Properties
- Wound Healing Activation
- Neuroprotection
How Much Aloe Vera Juice to Drink Daily
Most evenings, an hour or so after dinner, I make an aloe vera drink to soothe my gut.
Organic Aloe Vera Juice
I typically have around a cup a day to get the benefits of organic aloe vera juice.
Best Aloe Vera Juice
I drink Lakewood Organic Pure Aloe and have found it to be the best aloe vera juice for me -it’s organic and in a glass bottle, both of which are fantastic.
Best Aloe Vera Gel
My Ayurvedic teacher, Maya Tiwari, recommended the brand, Lily of the Dessert, as the best aloe vera gel.
While I love the gel, and it may be more potent, I am not as compliant when using it due to the difficulty in liberating the gel from the bottle.
Ayurveda and Benefits of Aloe Vera
According to Tawari, “Aloe has been used medicinally for millennia by Chinese, Greeks, and Indians, and when it comes to Ayurvedic medicine, aloe is a very important plant.”1
She goes on to state that aloe helps to regulate the intestine’s peristaltic movements, promotes digestion, and relieves abdominal distension by promoting downward movement of the vayus, or “wind” element.
Incidentally, wind is related to air, one of the five elements of the Ayurvedic framework, the other four are: space, fire, water, and earth.
If the element theory of Ayurvedic medicine looks familiar to you, it may be because of the overlap with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).
Aloe Drink
Inspired by all the aloe vera talk but not sure where to start with an aloe vera drink?
I love making Aloe Vera Juice Lemonade. Stay tuned for that creation.
I haven’t ever made aloe vera juice from scratch, though the boys love pulling a leaf off this houseplant and smearing the pure aloe vera gel on themselves when they get sunburned.
Keto Constipation
Aloe vera juice soothes my digestive system and helps me deal with constipation.
Trust me, constipation on the Keto Diet can get really real. If you’re dealing with it, check out How I Healed My Gut for more tips.
How to Hydrate Fast
When it comes to relieving constipation, proper hydration is also critical.
Immediate Constipation Relief at Home
It’s really important to get enough fiber on the Keto Diet so that your digestive system doesn’t get backed up.
Here are some of my favorite home remedies for constipation:
- Hot Cereal
- Chocolate Chia Pudding
- Magnesium

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the 3 food options for Paleo?
Paleo is an easy way to change your diet. This diet focuses on eating whole, unprocessed foods that were available to our ancestors in the Paleolithic period. It includes grass-fed meats, fish and fruits. These are three nutritious and delicious foods that you can enjoy as part of the ancestral plan.
- Savory Grass Fed Beef: 100% grass-fed beef cuts are a great source for protein and can be used in countless ways. Whether it's burgers or stews, there's no shortage of ways to make grass-fed beef taste amazing!
- Satisfying Salmon: Salmon provides essential omega-3 fat acids and is delicious when grilled, poached, or grilled. For a special flavor, you can dress it with fresh-picked herbs.
- Avocados high in fibre: Avocados are a fantastic source of monounsaturated fatty fats that are good for the heart. Use them in salads and as a part of a smoothie.
How can you make the Paleo Diet work for you?
The Paleo Diet doesn't require you to take on the challenge of finding the secret ingredients to success. With the right guidance, it is possible to live a healthier lifestyle that makes you feel great.
Paleo experts can provide helpful tips to help you experiment with new foods, discover what is truly good for your body, as well as understanding why your current lifestyle may be limiting your ability to achieve optimal health.
Learning how to make the Paleo Diet work for you is an exciting journey. You may find yourself looking at different options and making small tweaks to your life as you go.
You can start by assessing what foods provide valuable nutrients that will help improve energy, digestion, overall mood, mental clarity, and physical functioning - all components of strong health! A major step towards staying motivated will be educating yourself on what nutrition choices suit your body best so that those become second nature while avoiding why certain food groups should not be taken as part of your diet routine.
Consistency is about being mindful of portions and how much you can eat without feeling guilty. It's more than changing habits. You can create lasting change by changing how you eat. This will improve your satisfaction.
Realizing the transformational power of eating a nutritious diet is something that should not be overlooked or undervalued. You have immense control over what you put into your body. Take charge today and prove to yourself why the Paleo Diet is so worth it!
How quickly will I lose weight on paleo?
Without knowing more about your diet and past habits, it's difficult to predict how quickly you will lose weight. The general consensus is that a Paleo diet is high-in protein, fibre and healthy fat. This can help to increase satiety and reduce overall calories. This can make it easier and more enjoyable to reach and keep a healthy body weight. Additionally, reducing processed carbohydrates and refined carbohydrates can help to reduce blood glucose levels, which can be a key factor in weight loss. A meaningful weight loss program must include regular exercise. The paleo diet can help you make lasting changes to your body composition if you adhere to the core principles.
You must eat a healthy diet and exercise regularly. It is also important to get adequate sleep and manage stress levels. Insufficient sleep can lead you to a higher appetite and a greater desire for unhealthy foods. Stress can also increase cortisol production which can lead weight gain. You need to make sure that your lifestyle is in line with your weight loss goals.
What food groups are best avoided when following a Paleo diet
You can reap dramatic health benefits by avoiding processed foods, grains, legumes, dairy, as well as processed foods. Paleo has recently become very popular.
But what many people don't realize is that there are certain food groups to avoid to follow this diet effectively. Namely, any foods containing grains, legumes, dairy, or processed ingredients should be removed from your plate.
This means that you can say goodbye to bread, pastas and pizzas as well as chips, crackers and baked goods like cookies and cakes. And you'll want to reduce consumption of conventional dairy products such as milk and cheese.
Also, avoid processed foods such canned soups and frozen meals. Your body will not thrive if it isn't exposed to empty calories, refined carbs, and unhealthy fats.
Paleo is an excellent way to help you achieve your nutritional and health goals. You can still enjoy delicious meals. It's a great choice!
What happens during the first week of the paleo diet?
Paleo doesn't have be hard. The first week of this plan will help you prepare your body for the lifestyle and new foods.
It is essential to detoxify and prepare your body for the deeper dietary changes that will be required to reap maximum benefits from the paleo diet.
Begin by avoiding processed foods.
For your body to detox efficiently, ensure that you get adequate water throughout the day. Get restful sleep at night.
Unfortunately, your body may go through withdrawal symptoms during this process, like decreased energy levels or headaches - these are completely normal, but if any extreme symptoms occur, seek medical advice.
You can incorporate physical activity into your life by walking slowly every morning and evening, or taking up classes like yoga or aerobics. This will improve digestion and assist in weight loss.
Also, take this opportunity to learn more about food sensitivities and intolerances. To expand your nutrition knowledge, try out new nutritious foods like kale, quinoa or coconut oil.
Can you eat popcorn while on the Paleo diet
Paleo can be a confusing diet. You need to know what foods and snacks are allowed. Popcorn is one of the most popular foods that can be difficult to include. Can you eat popcorn if you are following a Paleo diet
The simple answer is: although it's made from corn (a vegetable that doesn’t comply with Paleo guidelines), it isn’t inherently unhealthy. Traditional popcorn is not recommended for Paleo-followers due to its high-carbohydrate content.
This eating plan does allow for some alternative options. Coconut milk popsicles may satisfy your need for crunchy, salty treats but not affect your nutritional balance. Almond flour or cauliflower crackers may be a better choice if you like to make your own snacks.
Regardless of what snack you choose while on this diet, read labels and ingredients carefully before purchasing any packaged foods. That way, you won't compromise on your nutrition goals by consuming something with added sugar or refined carbohydrates.
Consider all possible options when choosing which snacks you will eat Paleo-friendly, even popcorn. This will allow you to choose the best snack option that fits into your daily meal plan.
Is peanut Butter allowed on the Paleo plan?
It has been the subject of much discussion, from blog comments, to dinner parties.
You need to be familiar with the Paleo diet before you can answer that question. While there is no official guideline for eating on a diet, many people only consume food that can be found naturally in nature. Peanuts can be considered a legume but not technically a nut. For those who are concerned, peanuts (and then peanut butter) can be eaten on a Paleo diet.
However, while some scientific evidence exists explaining why peanut consumption may last on the Paleo diet, there are additional aspects to consider. For example, peanuts have been found to contain high quantities of lectins which can cause inflammation in the body or disrupt digestion if excessive amounts are consumed. You might find some options that aren't laden with sugar or oil, such natural peanut butter. At the same time, other options, like popular brands filled with additives, should still be avoided.
Ultimately, it seems that enjoying small amounts of peanuts and peanut butter with mindful moderation might fit into standard parameters for following a healthy Paleo lifestyle without compromising health goals and objectives.

How To
How do I get started with the paleo diet?
Paleo is a way to live a healthier, happier lifestyle. It can be overwhelming. There is no reason to be afraid or overwhelmed. With the right information and motivation, you'll be thriving on all the benefits of this ancestral approach in no time.
Starting with simple swaps can make all the difference. Get rid of processed foods and packaged foods that are high in sugar, wheat or corn. You can then add fresh fruits and vegetables to your daily meal plan and include lean meats, fish and other healthy protein sources. Wild-caught fish is also an option.
You should not only try new recipes that are full of flavor and inspiration but also meal prep is important. It will help you stay focused during busy times. Take advantage of resources like YouTube channels, cooking blogs, books, and apps for plenty of meal ideas, so you never get bored.
For any diet, consistency is essential. You will succeed if you put your best foot forward. Paleo may look intimidating at first, but when done properly, it can help you achieve your ultimate nutrition goals.
Remember that Paleo is not a diet based on hunting-gatherer living, but it doesn't mean that you have to eat exactly the same food as your ancestors. Instead, focus on eating whole foods such as fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds, lean proteins, and healthy fats. Also, be sure to include plenty of variety in your diet by including different types of food from each food group. Finally, don't forget to listen to your body and adjust your diet as needed.
