Keto Bacon and Shrimp Chowder

This creamy and comforting Keto Bacon and Shrimp Soup is low-carb and delicious!

SOUP. We are currently obsessed with SOUP. We're currently obsessed with this Keto Bacon, and Shrimp Chowder. It's our latest creation, and it is delicious! To make it creamy, fry the bacon. Then, add butter, onion + garlic, broth and turnips to the pan. Add the spices and salt. We added the heavy cream to the chowder and blended it with an immersion blender. Finally, we added the shrimp and bacon back into the Dutch oven.

Blending the soup will create a creamy chowder. You can skip this step if you prefer a soup broth. Um soup is complete with fresh chives.

Here are some ways to customize your chowder.

  • This keto bacon and shrimp soup can be made spicy by adding some serrano or jalapeno to the mix. You can add a serrano or diced jalapeno to the onions.
  • If you are unable to find turnips, substitute cauliflower for them.
  • For Mexican-style chowder, add sour cream, jalapenos and cilantro.
  • For those who prefer Mexican cuisine, add some Rotel with the onions (sorta like our Chicken Queso Soup).

Ingredients

  • 8 slices bacon
  • 1 lb shrimp
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 small onion diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 1/2 cups diced turnips
  • 1 tablespoon cajun seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 5 cups chicken bone broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup minced chives for topping

Instructions

  • Cook the bacon in a large Dutch oven on medium heat until crisp. Use a slotted spoon to remove the bacon and place it in a bowl.
  • Place the shrimp in the pot. Cook for 1-2 minutes on each side, until they are cooked through.
  • Add the butter to your pot. Stir in the butter and add the onion and garlic. Cook for 5 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are softened, but not browned. Stir in the spices and turnips, and cook for 1 minute.
  • Bring to a boil the bone broth. Cook the turnip for 15 minutes, covered.
  • Blend the soup using an immersion blender.
  • Add the heavy cream. Divide the mixture between two bowls. Top with bacon, shrimp, and chopped chives. Serve immediately
