Deep dive into an old success story: Updated December 2023
Introduction
Welcome to an extraordinary tale of transformation and healing. Meet Miriam Eriksson, a vibrant 35-year-old whose life narrative intertwines the daring spirit of Steve Irwin, the whimsical charm of Ms. Frizzle, the nurturing touch of Mary Poppins, and a dash of wanderlust. Miriam’s journey into the realm of the Carnivore Diet is not just a story of dietary change but a profound testimony to the power of listening to one’s body and daring to defy conventional wisdom.
Prior to her carnivorous shift, Miriam was the epitome of a health-conscious individual. Her diet was a kaleidoscope of organic produce, superfoods, and an assortment of supplements that would rival any health enthusiast’s pantry. Green smoothies and chlorella spirulina were her staples, a testament to her belief in plant-based superfoods. However, beneath this veneer of health, Miriam battled severe ailments: dysfunctional uterine bleeding, dry eyes, hives, sleep deprivation, and a troubling memory loss. Her ordeal with two severe gallbladder attacks marked a turning point.
It was her husband’s encouragement, influenced by the insights of carnivore diet advocates, that steered her towards a radical dietary overhaul. Skeptical but desperate for a respite from her health woes, Miriam embarked on a carnivore journey. This introduction marks the beginning of a transformative tale, where resilience, experimentation, and a meat-based diet converge to rewrite Miriam’s health story.
Miriam’s Carnivore Diet Journey: A Leap of Faith Towards Healing
Miriam Eriksson’s voyage into the carnivore diet was a leap of faith, born out of a dire need to heal. Plagued with severe health issues, including dysfunctional uterine bleeding, chronic hives, and debilitating memory loss, her life was a constant struggle. Despite adhering to what most would consider a ‘super healthy’ diet, her ailments persisted, casting a shadow over her once vibrant life.
The turning point came with two severe gallbladder attacks, which propelled her to reconsider her dietary choices. Influenced by her husband, who had been exploring the carnivore diet through various health podcasts, Miriam cautiously stepped into a new dietary realm. This transition wasn’t impulsive; it was a well-thought-out decision involving a three-day bone broth fast to reset her body.
Initially, her diet consisted solely of fresh cooked red meat. This restrictive phase lasted seven weeks, after which she gradually introduced other foods like eggs, cheese, and jerky. Now, she maintains a diet that is 90% meat-based, allowing for occasional diversions, especially when bonding with her young daughter.
The benefits of this dietary overhaul were nothing short of remarkable. Within months, Miriam experienced a profound transformation. Her menstrual cycles normalized, her energy levels surged, and she even lost 20 pounds without specifically aiming for weight loss. Her mental clarity returned, and the hives that once took a month to heal now subsided within days. Her journey was not just about physical healing; it was a mental and emotional rejuvenation.
Yet, this path had its challenges. The societal discomfort around the carnivore diet meant Miriam often had to navigate social settings delicately, choosing not to discuss her dietary choices openly unless prompted.
Miriam’s story is a powerful testament to the potential of the carnivore diet in addressing complex health issues and the importance of listening to one’s body.
Benefit 1: Hormonal Balance and Improved Reproductive Health
One of the most significant benefits Miriam Eriksson experienced on the Carnivore Diet was the restoration of her hormonal balance and reproductive health. Prior to her dietary change, Miriam suffered from dysfunctional uterine bleeding, a condition that not only affected her physical health but also her emotional well-being. The introduction of a meat-centric diet brought about a surprising and welcome change in this aspect.
Within a few months on the Carnivore Diet, Miriam noticed a dramatic improvement in her menstrual cycles. They normalized, breaking the cycle of unpredictability and distress that had plagued her for years. This change is a crucial indicator of the positive impact that diet can have on hormonal health. The normalization of her menstrual cycle was a clear sign of her body restoring its natural balance, a balance that had been disrupted by her previous dietary choices.
This improvement in reproductive health is not just Miriam’s isolated experience but is echoed in the carnivore community. Many women have reported similar benefits, suggesting that a diet rich in animal proteins and fats might be more conducive to hormonal health than previously thought. It challenges the conventional dietary wisdom that heavily favors plant-based superfoods, highlighting the importance of animal-based nutrients in supporting hormonal and reproductive functions.
Benefit 2: Enhanced Mental Clarity and Cognitive Function
Another profound benefit that Miriam experienced was the enhancement of her mental clarity and cognitive function. Before adopting the carnivore lifestyle, she struggled with severe memory loss and an inability to maintain focus. These cognitive issues significantly impacted her quality of life, affecting her ability to communicate and engage in everyday activities.
The shift to a carnivore diet marked a significant turnaround in her cognitive abilities. Miriam reported a notable increase in mental sharpness and an improved ability to finish her sentences, a stark contrast to her previous experiences. This enhancement in cognitive function can be attributed to the high-quality proteins and fats inherent in a meat-based diet, which are essential for brain health.
This improvement in brain function is particularly noteworthy, considering the prevailing skepticism about the long-term effects of a meat-only diet on cognitive health. Miriam’s experience provides compelling anecdotal evidence that a diet devoid of plant-based foods does not necessarily lead to cognitive decline but may actually enhance brain function.
Conclusion: A New Chapter in Health and Well-being
Miriam Eriksson’s journey with the Carnivore Diet is more than a story of dietary change; it’s a testament to the transformative power of listening to one’s body and daring to challenge the status quo. Her journey from a state of chronic illness to one of vitality and health underscores the profound impact that diet can have on our overall well-being.
Miriam’s experience is a beacon of hope for those struggling with similar health issues. It demonstrates that sometimes, the road less traveled—like a meat-centric diet—can lead to the most significant health breakthroughs. Her story is not just about physical healing; it’s about reclaiming the joy of living, the clarity of mind, and the energy to engage fully with life. Miriam’s transformation is a reminder that our health journeys are deeply personal and that the answers we seek may lie in unexpected places.

Interview with Miriam
1) Introduce Yourself.
Hello! My name is Miriam Eriksson & I’m 35 years old. I was recently asked to describe myself… If you combined Steve Irwin, Ms. Frizzle, Marry Poppins, & a bit of wanderlust I feel that combination would accurately describe me!
2) How did you eat before Carnivore.
Before I tried the carnivore way of eating I ate SO HEALTHY… ( I hope you laughed) I only ate organic produce, Berky filtered water & more supplements than most grandmas. I was living off of Green smoothies & added tablespoons full of chlorella spirulina. I loved all of the Green superfood powders and overdosed on everything thinking it would help!
3) Why did you try Carnivore to begin with.
I struggled with severe DUB, (dysfunctional uterine bleeding), dry eyes, hives, sleep deprivation, severe memory loss, & nutrient depletion for three years. I had two severe gallbladder attack’s. My husband begged me to just try the carnivore way of eating for a few weeks to see if it would help. He had been listening to podcasts by @shawnbaker1976 @jordan.b.peterson @mikhailapeterson @biohacking.chick @paulsaladinomd
He had been eating only animal products for almost a year. I just couldn’t wrap my head around only eating meat. I grew a huge organic garden and thought all the superfoods were plant-based.
4) How do you personally approach the Carnivore Diet.
Trying the carnivore way of eating was not done on a whim. I did a three-day bone broth fast to help my body reset. We have tinkered with what we like to put in or Bone Broth & found a yummy evening or morning concoction.
- Bone Broth
- 1 scoop @vitalproteins collagen
- 1 t @realsaltketo season salt
- 1 T Butter (or more)
I was also taking digestive enzymes so my body would be supported in the transition. I was only eating fresh cooked red meat for 7 weeks & then I started adding in other foods, eggs, cheese, & jerky. Now I’m probably about 90% meat-based. I have a 4-year-old who is a social eater & loves to make me things. I will always try what she gives me because she won’t be little forever! ️
5) What benefits have you seen since starting the Carnivore Diet.
September of 2018 is when I started my Carnivore journey, I had 3 normal mensural cycles and no issues in between. My hormones reset and my body is healing. My body can produce tears again & although I still have flare-ups with hives they heal in just a few days not a month like they used to. I’m actually finishing my sentences & mentally much more clear! My gallbladder has been stable & I have so much more energy! This wasn’t really on my goal but I’ve lost 20lbs eating this way. Right now I’m 5’6 & 129lbs. When I started I was 149lbs.
6) What negatives have you found with the Carnivore Diet.
The only negative I really found from eating this way is it makes people so uncomfortable. I just don’t talk about it around family or in social settings. It’s best to let people ask you questions when they see you’ve been able to heal!
7) Do you exercise on the Carnivore Diet, if so how do you find it and what do you do.
I didn’t have the energy to exercise when I was basically bleeding to death! I would walk with my 4 year old & play outside. I haven’t been to the gym in 5 years. Now that I’m feeling better I’d love to put on some muscle!
8) What piece of advice would you give someone who is interested in trying this diet, but hasn’t taken the leap yet.
I’ve learned about so many people healing different health issues they have by using the carnivore way of eating. If you’re curious I would do a panty or fridge clean if the food isn’t there you are less likely to eat it. Only go shopping when you are full & bring your own snacks. Those damn marketing companies have spent billions on making unhealthy foods smell enticing & exciting! Then do a bone broth fast to reset your system. Go for it you’ll be surprised at how amazing you can feel!
9) Do you think Carnivore will ever be accepted as a mainstream diet.
I don’t think carnivore will ever be accepted because there is not much money to be made from someone saying “Listen to your body, eat meat, fast, drink water!” Everyone wants to sell you something this is a personal choice where you are in charge of your growth & healing. Big Corporations don’t like people who are willing to self-experiment & not buy into all the hype of the latest quick fix!
10) Anything you would like to add, and where can people follow your journey.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are I really going to need a Keto Food List or not?
Are you unsure if you should have a list of keto foods? This is an important step in your keto journey. Eating the right high-fat, low-carb foods is key to unlocking the potential benefits of the ketogenic diet. With so many recipes and food items available, each offering different levels of carbohydrates, finding the best fuel for reaching your goals can seem daunting.
This can help you plan your meals more efficiently and give you enough variety. A keto food list helps simplify the process by providing information about what you should eat, plus a few ideas on how to prepare them. You can also use it as a reference guide to help you shop at the supermarket or at restaurants.
In addition, having a well-balanced nutritional approach to eating can help maximize weight loss results while maintaining overall wellness. For the metabolic state of ketosis to occur, this should include 12-15% protein, 15%-30% fat and no more that 5% net carbs. The goal is to identify the most desirable meals and choose those that are high in nutrients while minimizing carbs.
You can use this list to help guide you in your transition towards healthier eating habits that will improve your well-being and make it easier for you to live a more meaningful life. By taking advantage of this helpful resource, you're one step closer to achieving your lifestyle objectives.
What happens when you exceed 20 carbs in keto?
Think about the potential consequences of going over 20 carbs on keto. It's an important idea that should be carefully considered. Eating too many carbohydrates can slow weight loss, or even cause weight increase.
Understanding the interplay between carbs and your body is crucial to understanding how you use them.
You should avoid eating too many processed carbohydrates if you are following a low carbohydrate diet like a ketogenic one. The rule of thumb for a ketogenic diet is to not exceed the body's energy requirement. This means that your daily carbohydrate intake should be no more than 20g. It is crucial to be aware of this number when trying to maintain ketosis. Exceeding it can cause an imbalance in your body, which can lead to slow progress.
It is important to follow the ketogenic diet guidelines for optimal health and optimal results in tracking macronutrients in food choices. This helps you understand how your body works to produce energy, which is crucial for people looking for sustainable weight loss.
Can you eat keto fruit?
Are you curious about whether fruit can be eaten on a keto diet. However, be cautious.
It is important to reduce carbohydrate intake to maintain ketosis and to burn fat. Some fruits can still be part of a balanced keto diet.
While low-carb fruits can fit into a keto meal plan, they should be consumed sparsely and in careful moderation. Individual fruits may have different amounts of carbohydrates. Bananas have more carbs than bananas. Avocados are low in carbohydrates.
Sugar is found in fruits, which are broken down into glucose by the body for energy production. An overload of sugar can cause blood sugar spikes and derail your progress when trying to achieve nutritional ketosis. It's important that you pay attention to the portion sizes of sugary items and not overdo it.
Fresh fruit is better than processed or sugary snacks. It provides essential vitamins, minerals and fibre that help fuel the body without adding extra carbs like desserts or candy bars.
If you are unsure whether eating fruit on the ketogenic diet is right for you, remember that fresh fruits are often healthier than sugary treats. But only if you eat a small amount at a time.
Can you eat oatmeal on keto?
Unanswered questions can be the hardest to find solutions for. Many are still confused and lost when it is time to find the right food options for the keto lifestyle. You'll notice this especially with oatmeal, which has a lot of carbs.
You can still eat oatmeal, but it's possible to make a keto lifestyle out of oatmeal. It all comes down to the type of oatmeal and how much.
You need to look at the ingredients, such as nuts, seeds and other low-carb add-ons, that are combined into one deliciously nutritious dish. Pure oatmeal is rich in fibre and protein. However, they do not compromise the keto diet.
In addition to being mindful of portion sizes, oats should be added to your daily meals. You don't need to run a marathon, or eat too many overnight meals. Instead, you can exercise self-control and limit your portions while maximising flavour with innovative ingredients like coconut milk, cinnamon powder, and chia seeds.
If done properly, oatmeal can make a great breakfast choice within a Keto nutrition plan. You don't have to compromise your principles for taste. Proper prep can bring you serious results.
Can I cheat 1 day on keto?
It's never been easier to explore options that break the rules. You can easily ask the information that flows like water if you want to stretch your diet and cheat for one day. While maintaining your healthy streak, it is tempting.
It may not be the answer you expected. When it comes keto, there's no room in the world for compromise. You will reap the maximum benefits of this lifestyle if you strictly follow your diet. This will promote long-term sustainability in weight loss and overall health.
Cheating on keto can cause you to lose any progress you have made towards your goals, and may even discourage you from achieving them as quickly as possible. Consuming something oily or sweet signals to your body that it doesn't need it, and can hinder the benefits of keto.
Sometimes it can be difficult to avoid a lapse. It may be more difficult than following the diet. Therefore, evaluating the impact on your lifestyle could be crucial depending on factors like age, activity level or genetics.
Even though temptation is a common factor in making poor decisions, it is ultimately up to you to decide what is best for your lasting well-being.

How To
Common Mistakes to Avoid when on a Ketogenic Diet
To ensure success with a ketogenic diet, it is important to do so correctly. There are still many mistakes people make when starting their ketogenic journey. They can have a devastating impact on their progress.
It is crucial to pay close attention to the food you eat, and how much. Neglecting to eat enough fat or choosing the wrong carbs can result in lower ketone production, which can lead to weight gain. It's important that you monitor your carbohydrate intake, fat, as well as protein for each meal.
Hidden carbs can be a real problem if you happen to ingest them. Hidden carbs are often found in processed meats and parmesan, as well as other seemingly innocent foods. Be sure to read all labels. Also, be wary when eating out, as restaurant meals often exceed recommended carb limits due to added sauces or starches like rice or potatoes.
Not drinking enough water can also hinder success on a keto-friendly diet. The body requires a lot of fluids during the process of ketosis, especially during the induction phase, while adjusting to fasting. Forgetting this simple rule could lead to negative side effects, including headaches, fatigue, and muscle cramps - easily avoided by simply staying hydrated!
Finally, don't expect miracles overnight! It takes time for the body's metabolism to switch to fat burning over glucose. Be patient with yourself and the "keto community" as you make your way! To stay motivated, keep track and appreciate the fact that it may take some time.
