The Homo Sapien Diet Journey Represented as an American Football Field

Introduction:

Since our ancestors lived on the earth hunting and gathering food, we have come a long ways as humans. Our diets have undergone significant changes as we evolve and develop new technologies. This article will cover the 300,000 year history of Homo sapiens' diet. It is illustrated on an American football field. This will allow us to gain a better understanding of the reasons why carnivore diets work for so many people.

The Meaty Beginnings (0 - 97 yards)

Let's pretend that the first 97 meters represent the consumption of primarily animal products as we walk onto the field. Our ancestors ate a diet high in animal fat and protein for most of human history. They were able to survive, thrive, evolve and get the nutrients they needed through hunting and gathering.

Homo sapiens is well-adapted for a carnivorous lifestyle. Our species' development has been influenced by our ability to process and use animal-based nutrition. Our brains have become much more complex than our predecessors and require high-quality nutrients and energy to function properly. These essential nutrients are abundant in animal-based foods like meat and organs.

Our digestive systems are uniquely equipped to process animal products. Our digestive tract is much shorter than that of herbivorous animals. This allows us to efficiently absorb and break down meat nutrients. Our stomachs also produce high levels of hydrochloric acids, which allows us to digest proteins and kill harmful bacteria in raw meat.

Human societies were also shaped by the consumption of meat. Our ancestors created communities and used hunting tools to make it possible to hunt. This cooperative behavior is thought to have helped to develop language, culture, social norms, and other human traits.

The Introduction of Grains (97-99 meters):

Let's now move to the 97 yard line. This is the point at which grains were introduced to our diet. Humans began cultivating and eating grains around 10,000 years ago as a result the agricultural revolution. The agricultural revolution changed our eating habits and led to a shift in our health.

While grains provide energy in the form carbohydrates, they lack the nutritional density of animal products. As a result, many health problems related to inflammation and nutritional deficiencies have emerged.

You can also find lectins in grains, as well as phytic acid. These substances can cause inflammation and interfere with nutrient absorption. Moreover, grains lack essential nutrients such as vitamins A, D and K2, which are plentiful in animal foods.

As agriculture expanded across the globe, people began to rely more heavily on plant-based food, which led to a decline in animal-rich foods. This had long-lasting implications for human health. Archaeological evidence has shown that early agricultural societies suffered from a decline in overall well-being compared with their hunter/gatherer counterparts. As people moved to grain-based diets, signs of malnutrition, problems with the teeth, and shorter lives became more common.

The agricultural revolution also brought about social and economic changes which further influenced our diets. As people grew older and became more sedentary their dependence on animal-based food decreased and plant-based diets became more popular. Social hierarchies created an uneven distribution of resources with the elite often receiving higher-quality animal food. This led to a decline in overall health.

The Ultra-Processed Era (Final Yard):

We finally reach the end of the field. This is the latest chapter in our diet history: ultra-processed food. We have changed from eating whole, natural foods to a diet high in artificial ingredients, sugar, unhealthy fats, all within a matter of seconds.

This dramatic change has had an enormous impact on our health. We now have a higher incidence of chronic diseases like diabetes, obesity, and heart disease. We have shifted away from the foods that our bodies were designed to eat and thrive on, in favor of ultra-processed foods.

Ultra-processed foods are now more affordable and accessible than ever thanks to industrialization and global food industries. These foods are highly appealing, with unhealthy fats and added sugars that encourage excessive consumption. Many people consume more calories than they need. This can lead to weight gain and other health problems.

Because they often lose their natural nutrients, ultra-processed food is nutritionally less nutritious than whole foods. These foods often contain preservatives and chemical additives that can adversely impact our health.

Ultra-processed foods can have serious mental and physical consequences. An increase in depression, anxiety, unhealthy fats and artificial ingredients has been associated with high levels of sugar, unhealthy oils, and artificial ingredient consumption. It is becoming more evident that diet has a direct impact on mental health. This highlights the need to eat a natural and nutrient-dense diet.

Connecting with our Ancestral Diet

The history of the Homo Sapien diet is displayed on an American football field. This shows how far we have fallen from our evolutionary eating habits. A diet that is based on animal products, such as the carnivore, can help us reconnect with our ancestral roots and improve health.

In recent years, the carnivore diet has been popularized. It focuses on eating only animal-based food. The diet is believed to help with obesity, diabetes, and other health problems associated with processed foods. We can help our bodies function the way we were meant to by returning to a nutrient rich, animal-based diet.

Understanding the history of our diet can give valuable insight into how to improve our health. We can learn from our past and take steps to a more healthy and sustainable future. We must face the modern challenges of nutrition head-on, and return to the diets that have served us so well over the years.
