The Limoncello Spritz, a citrusy and light take on the Aperol Spritz, is a refreshing twist. This cocktail is easy to make and only requires three ingredients. You want a citrusy, bubbly cocktail for brunch but don't feel like a Mimosa. This lemony spritz is a great alternative to a mimosa!

- Limoncello Spritz Recipe
Limoncello is a sweet and tart liqueur that Italians drink as an aperitif. Prosecco and club soda are combined with a few slices of citrus to create a sparkling cocktail.
You can make this Limoncello Spritz in a glass or a pitcher. It's great for entertaining. You can pass around spritzes for Mother's Day or at your next brunch with friends. You can also enjoy spritzes at the pool if brunch is not on your agenda. This refreshingly fizzy beverage is perfect for any occasion.
Serve this glass of sunshine with a healthy asparagus quiche, a strawberry spinach salad or a snacky app like Shrimp Ceviche or Mediterranean Nachos. This sunny glass goes with everything!
What Is a Spritz
Both spritzes and Limoncello are iconic Italian beverages. You can find spritz cocktails everywhere in Italy. It's especially true in the Southwest, where lemons are plentiful. You'll find the best Limoncello in this region.
You can easily find the ingredients to make a refreshing and delicious Limoncello Spitz in your local grocery store. You can also make your own Limoncello at home!
What is Limoncello ?
You may picture a small glass filled with a yellow, electric-colored drink in a frosty, icy environment. The drink is bright, slightly sweet and has a strong aroma of lemon oil.
Limoncello, or Limoncello as it is also known, is a popular drink in Southern Italy. It's made from large, bumpy Sorrento Lemons. It is usually made from just the zest of the lemons and high-proof alcohol like Everclear, sugar, and/or water. You can either make your own with Eureka Lemons or buy a bottle ready-made in any liquor store. Bellini and Luxardo are two brands that I recommend. They offer tasty bottles at a budget-friendly price.
Limoncello, one of Italy's best-known spirits, is delicious by itself. However it is also great for cocktails. A little is enough because it's strong and sweet. With just a few tablespoons, the unmistakable lemony burst will add a delicious twist to any dish.
Limoncello Spritz Ingredients
Limoncello Spritz can be made using only three ingredients: Prosecco and club soda. They make a tasty cocktail in no-time!
- Prosecco Prosecco works well for spritzes because it is lighter than other sparkling wine. You'll want to look for Prosecco that is labeled as "extra brut" or "brut."
- LimoncelloI prefer a store-bought, high-quality variety that is not too sweet like Bellini or Luxardo. This limoncello can be made at home using this recipe. Make your own limoncello in Italian style, adjusting the sugar and lemon according to your taste.
- Club Soda:Effervescent soda club lightens and refreshes the drink.
- Sweetener This is optional but I add a little simple syrup or agave to balance the taste.
- Garnish :You can choose your own garnishes. Simple lemon slices will do. You can also add rosemary, mint, thyme or candied lemon peel.
How to Make a Limoncello Spritz
You can make a Limoncello Spritz in two different ways: either by the glass, or by the pitcher. For a single drink:
- Mix Fill a wine or tumbler with ice to about 2/3rds. Add 3 ounces Prosecco, 1 ounce club soda, and 2 ounces Limoncello. To taste, add simple syrup or agave (I use 1/4 ounce).
- How to serve: Stir and decorate as desired!
How to Make Limoncello Spitz for a Crowd
If you are entertaining a big crowd, the Limoncello Spritz is also available in a pitcher. Pre-batching drinks is a great way to relax with your guests and enjoy the convenience. Make a pitcher for approximately 8 people.
- Mix In a large pitcher mix together a bottle of Prosecco 750ml, 16 ounces Limoncello and 8 ounces club soda. Stir in 2 ounces of simple syrup if you're adding it.
- Serve: Immediately serve with ice-filled glass and your desired garnishes. It's best to consume it within an hour after making, as the bubbles will begin to fade.
Simple Syrup
The sugar content of Limoncello can vary widely. Taste your Limoncello before you mix. Add 1/4 ounce simple syrup if it is too harsh or sour. It's easier and cheaper to make simple syrup than buy it in the store. Make your own simple syrup:
- In a large saucepan, combine equal parts of water and sugar. Stir occasionally over medium heat until sugar is completely dissolved.
- Allow to simmer for 5 minutes and then cool to room temperature.
- Store in the refrigerator up to a month.
What to serve with Limoncello Spritz
Other festive Italian appetizers are perfect with Bubbly Limoncello Spritzes. This is a sweet and tart drink that goes best with salty, savory finger foods.
Slice the crispy-meets-custardy Farinata (savory chickpea pancake) hot out of the oven with a chilled spritz on the side. Antipasto Skewers, with cheese, olives, vegetables, and herbs, make snaking a breeze. The Spritz is perfect with a crispy, salty Fried Calamari, especially if you serve it with a homemade Garlic Sauce on the side.

What is the Mediterranean Diet and How can it Reduce your Risk of Heart Disease or Stroke?
The Mediterranean diet is an eating style that emphasizes healthy fats, whole grain, legumes, fruits and vegetables. There are many potential health benefits associated with this diet, including improved blood lipids, glucose control, reduced risk of depression and certain kinds of cancer, better weight management, improved cardiac health, enhanced cognitive functions, and better cardiovascular health. Research also suggests that this dietary pattern may reduce the risk of stroke and heart disease.
It is possible to incorporate Mediterranean-inspired foods into your daily diet by swapping high-calorie snacks like chips for nutrient-dense vegetable appetizers or other traditional greens or beans dishes. Also, spice and other foods derived from nuts, fruits and vegetables can improve the satisfaction of meals. Furthermore, moderate amounts of dairy products like yogurt, cheese, and milk should be included throughout the day for added nutrition. Olive oil should be the main cooking fat, not traditional oils. A glass of red wine is a good option to round out the Mediterranean experience.
When combined with regular exercise at a vigorous pace, you could experience even more positive short-term outcomes and long-term effects on your body composition. The Mediterranean diet encourages the enjoyment of food while maintaining a healthy balance. This can lead to substantial improvements in one's ability to prevent strokes and heart disease.
