Homemade Electrolyte Powder

Recently, I've been asked by many people to come up with a recipe for homemade electrolyte.

The topic began to gain popularity when I wrote Women, Food, and Hormones, and then continued after I wrote LMNT Electrolytes.

Homemade Electrolyte Powder

Although electrolyte balance can be crucial to properly hydrating the body, buying electrolytes from the store is not always the best option for your wallet.

You can make electrolyte powder yourself.

Hydrate with Electrolyte water

It's easy to make homemade electrolyte water. You can make electrolyte drinks at home by mixing the powder with water.

  • Measurement Utensils

  • Pint Mason Jar

Ingredients

  • 57 grams celtic sea salt
  • 8 grams potassium chloride
  • 25 grams raspberry lemon magnesium citrate

Instructions

  • In a pint Mason jar, combine the powders of potassium, magnesium, and salt. Shake well.
  • Place 1 teaspoon of electrolyte powder into 2-4 cups of water, and stir
  • Drink up

Keto Flu Symptoms

Keto Flu is a common symptom for people who are new to Keto Diet.

After a few days of intermittent fasting, and after eating a lot of keto-friendly meals, you will begin to enter ketosis.

It can be a difficult adjustment to go from a high-carb diet to one that uses fat or ketone body as fuel.

Solution? Keto Electrolyte powder

It can be very helpful to replenish your body's electrolytes with sugar-free ones in order to combat Keto Flu symptoms.

Rehydrate

You may also need to replenish your electrolytes.

Although my homemade electrolyte doesn't taste as good as LMNT, it offers other benefits.

The ingredients used to make electrolyte supplements are varied. My electrolyte is made of three minerals that people don't get enough of.

Please be aware that the weight (mg), and the nutrition (mg), are different. In the table below, I have provided the nutritional information for my homemade electrolytes as well as LMNT Electrolytes.

Best Hydration Powder

Add a dozen raw packets of Stevia to your electrolyte powder if you want it sweeter. My boys like it this way.

Sugar-Free Electrolyte Powder

Add 1/2 teaspoon of stevia powder to sweeten this electrolyte mixture. I like it, but my boys don't.

Electrolyte Drinks

I avoid electrolyte beverages like Powerade and Gatorade.

To avoid the:

  • Sugar is not necessary
  • Artificial Food Dye
  • Plastic bottles are a wasteful packaging.
  • Spending too much money on electrolyte beverages

LMNT Electrolytes

Try LMNT if you don't want to make your own electrolyte.

This means that if you indulge in foods that don't fall strictly into the paleo diet guideline now and again, that doesn't mean all your progress up until now has been wasted. Healthy indulgences are only 15% of the overall balance, so you won't get off-track with your healthy lifestyle.

Although the 85/15 rule is not part of traditional paleo guidelines but it can be helpful as long as you keep your commitment throughout the week and eat mostly whole food ingredients.
