Top Vegan Blog Picks Criteria

  1. High Quality Recipes. The blogs have to have totally delicious and fool-proof recipes. It’s shocking how often recipes online don’t turn out. That’s why World of Vegan now has a team of recipe testers, and our recipes often go through several iterations before they’re published. We very much appreciate other blogs that go to those lengths as well.
  2. Stunning Food Photography. We eat with our eyes first, so it was important to have stunning photography that has you drooling on your keyboard and makes you want to reach through the screen and grab the fork.
  3. Consistent Content. There are thousands of food bloggers who used to create recipes but are no longer actively blogging. Consistent content is important in our ranking factors, and we looked for blogs that regularly release fresh content and update old content. We love to see the inspiring new creative dishes coming into our feed from the food bloggers we follow!

Ultimately, you’ll want to search for food blogs that resonate with your cooking style and preferences. For example, we at World of Vegan focus on fully-vegan comfort food recipes that seldom require specialty ingredients. We make sure our recipes are simple enough for anyone to make, regardless of prior cooking experience, and we keep them as simple as possible so they can easily be incorporated into everyday busy life. We especially love featuring veganized versions of classic recipes that are traditionally made with animal products.

If you’re someone who likes experimenting with bold new ingredients, like jackfruit or kombucha, or who has food allergies, you can always find blogs that cater to your needs. There are vegan blogs focused on every culture, cooking style, and diet. Whether you’re a healthy vegan, junk food vegan, gluten-free vegan, nut-free vegan, soy-free vegan, sugar-free vegan, oil-free vegan, raw vegan, paleo, keto vegan, low-fob vegan, whole food plant-based (wfpb), or anything else, you can find your tribe.

Without further ado, let’s check out our best vegan food blogs!

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a plant-based diet the same as a vegan diet?

No, a plant-based diet is not the same as a vegan diet. A plant-based diet is an eating plan that focuses on mainly consuming fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts and seeds, and whole grains. Although this eating style does not include meat, dairy or other animal products, it may contain small amounts of animal protein. Veganism is an ethical lifestyle that emphasizes a plant-based diet. It also avoids cosmetics and clothing made from animal products. So while some vegans may choose to also follow a plant-based diet as part of their lifestyle choice, they are two separate concepts.

What can you do to replace meat in a plant-based diet.

Replacing meat in a plant-based diet can be done through inventive vegan substitutes. Tofu and seitan (wheat Gluten), tempeh or fermented soybeans can mimic traditional meats. Vegetarian burgers made from black beans and quinoa can also be as good as beef burgers. There are many tasty alternatives to beef burgers, including coconut bacon strips or eggplant bacon pieces; tofu mighto; veggie hotdogs made with seasoned and texture soy proteins; and faux chicken strips using wheat gluten. You can alter recipes to use fruits, vegetables, beans, seeds and nuts as well as vegetables and grains. Alternative cooking methods like steaming, roasting, and grilling are also great ways to enjoy plant-based meals without sacrificing savoriness.

Can children follow a plant based diet?

Adults are becoming more interested in plant-based diets due to the numerous health benefits. Parents may wonder if children can follow a plant based diet. Children can still eat a plant-based food plan if they are well-planned and meet their nutritional needs.

All the nutrients that children require to grow and develop can be found in plant-based diets. However, it is important to ensure that children get enough protein, iron, calcium, vitamin D, and vitamin B12. For growth and development, protein is vital. Good plant-based sources of protein include beans and lentils, tofu and nuts. Fortified cereals and leafy plants contain iron. Calcium is crucial for healthy bones and can be obtained from fortified plant milk, calcium-set tofu, and leafy greens. Vitamin D is crucial for bone health. This vitamin can be obtained by sunlight exposure and fortified dairy milk. Vitamin B12, vital for healthy nerves as well as blood cells, is only available in animal products. Therefore, children on a plant-based diet may need to take a B12 supplement.

It is also important to ensure that children on a plant-based diet consume enough calories to meet their energy needs. Children should have access to a wide variety of whole foods including fruits, vegetables whole grains, legumes beans, nuts, seeds, and nuts. Children might need to eat more or less frequently to meet their energy needs.

Parents are advised to consult with a registered nutritionist or a healthcare professional in order to ensure their child's nutritional needs are met. They can also guide meal planning, supplementation, and age-appropriate portion sizes.

It is possible for children to safely eat a plant-based diet, provided it meets their nutritional needs. With the right planning and guidance of a registered nutritionist or healthcare professional, parents can provide a healthy and nutritious diet that is plant-based for their children.

What are some ways to transition to a plantbased diet?

While it is daunting to transition to a plant based diet, it can be exciting and a life-changing experience with the right information and support. These are some tips for transitioning into this type if diet:

  1. Structure meals around whole foods and not processed food to ensure adequate macronutrients, vitamins, or mineral intake.
  2. Focusing on creating meals that are enjoyable to eat and meet dietary needs.
  3. Creating a support system like friends, family members, or certified health professionals.
  4. Experiment with new recipes while enjoying healthy eating.
  5. You can slowly change your habits, but you must also be mindful of your nutrient intake.

People can increase their chances to maintain a healthy lifestyle by gradually changing to a plant-based diet.

How can a plant based diet boost your health?

Many health benefits can be derived from a plant-based diet. The risk of developing heart disease, diabetes or stroke is lower if you eat more plants than animals. Plant-based foods are rich in vitamins and minerals as well as antioxidants and other beneficial compounds. They can also help prevent inflammation and oxidative harm. A high intake of fruits, vegetables and legumes has been proven to have many benefits. The dietary fiber helps feed the gut bacteria and improves digestion. Saturated fats in plant-based meal plans can be reduced, which could help to lower cholesterol levels. A number of studies have found that plant-based diets can reduce the symptoms of anxiety and depression. The combination of plant proteins and healthy fats from nuts or avocados can increase long-term satisfaction between meals.

Statistics

  • In the United States, poor-quality diet is the most significant predictor of early death, according to an article published in the May 2017 Journal of Geriatric Cardiology. (everydayhealth.com)
  • Another found that following a diet rich in plant foods and lower in animal foods was associated with a 16 percent lower risk of cardiovascular disease and a 31 to 32 percent lower risk of death from cardiovascular disease. (everydayhealth.com)

How To

How do you transition to a plant-based diet?

Making the transition to a plant-based diet can be overwhelming at first - however, with adequate preparation and education, it is achievable. To start, take baby steps and gradually incorporate the necessary dietary changes - replacing animal proteins with plant-based proteins, for example. Whole foods are more nutritious and healthier than processed alternatives.

Planning and meal preparation requires dedication. Plan your meals ahead of time so you can plan and shop for the right ingredients and allocate enough time for each dish. The best kitchen appliances, such as multi-cookers or slow cookers, can make it easier to use. Batch cooking means you can have multiple meals ready in a single go.

Don't be afraid to try new flavours. Try different cuisines to add variety to your vegetarian diet. You should create a grocery shopping list that is based upon recipes and not rely on impulse buying at the grocery stores. With the right ingredients and preparation tips, making the switch will become easier over time!
