- For optimal macronutrients, vitamins and minerals, structure your meals around whole foods instead of processed foods.
- The goal is to create meals that are delicious and satisfy dietary preferences.

- Experiment with new recipes while enjoying healthy eating.
- You can slowly change your habits, but you must also be mindful of your nutrient intake.
By gradually transitioning to a plant-based diet and incorporating these tips into the process, individuals may increase their chances of staying on track with this healthy lifestyle change.
Can I eat eggs while following a plant-based lifestyle?
Yes, eggs are not permitted on a plant based diet. This diet excludes meat, fish and poultry as well as eggs. There are many vegan options for traditional egg-centric dishes that have the same flavor and texture as eggs, but they don't rely on animal products. Tofu scrambles, omelets, and chickpea flour are excellent breakfast dishes that look and feel like eggs. However, they also contain plant-based proteins. You can use aquafaba (the liquid found inside a can chickpeas) to substitute eggs for vegan egg whites when making meringues. Additionally, egg replacers like flaxseed meal or chia seeds mixed with water substituted for one large egg can help keep non-vegan recipes intact without sacrificing taste.
Can I eat meat on a plant-based diet?
Although plant-based diets prohibit meat, fish and poultry, they allow certain food items to be prepared that do not contain animal products. However, people who are on a plant diet can still eat eggs or dairy in moderation. Many options are available to people who wish to change to a plant based diet. These include vegan, vegetarian and vegan options. Plant-based diets emphasize fresh fruits, vegetables, legumes (such as beans and lentils), nuts and seeds like oatmeal and quinoa as well as soy products and fortified food such as non-dairy coconut or almond milk.
Most grocery stores will carry vegan products. Many soy-based meats, such as seitan (wheat Gluten), tempeh ("fermented soybeans"), and mock duck (made from mushrooms), can mimic traditional meat dishes' flavor and texture. A growing number of vegetarian burgers are made with black beans or quinoa. They have a similar taste to beef burgers.
Moreover, many plant-based alternatives exist for people who want more than just meal replacements for their carnivorous favorites. Some vegan substitutes include coconut bacon strips or eggplant bacon bits; tofu mayo; veggie hot dogs made with seasoned textured soy protein; and faux chicken strips from wheat gluten--all delicious. Although some processed forms fermented mushrooms can taste just like meat, when cooked correctly, they have significantly lower water consumption than livestock production. Ultimately, meat that one might once would have eaten could be safely replaced with these alternatives, making transitioning into a plant-based diet more manageable.

How To
How can you make sure that you get enough protein from a plant-based diet
The right ingredients can make sure that you get enough protein from a plant-based diet. Vegetables like legumes, nuts seeds, tempeh (and tofu), are all great sources of plant-based proteins. These foods can be included in your meals regularly to ensure that you are meeting your daily nutritional needs. You can optimize your nutrient intake by eating superfoods like spinach, green tea, and chia seed.
Plant-based proteins can be eaten in all meals. However, vegans should supplement their diet with products such as nut butters, plant-based protein powders, and collagen peptides. These products can be used to make smoothies and other recipes. If you don't feel you are getting enough protein from your food, you can look into high-quality supplements. These include pills, capsules or tablets that provide the necessary amount of protein.
People who are vegan can make conscious efforts to incorporate plant-based protein into their meals in a variety of ways. This will help them quickly reach their daily recommended nutrients. Planning is key!
