Can I eat chicken while following a plant-based lifestyle?

You cannot eat chicken if you follow a plant-based lifestyle. A plant-based diet eliminates all animal products, including meat, fish, and poultry. There are many tasty alternatives to beef burgers, including coconut bacon strips and eggplant bacon bits, tofu Mayo, veggie hot dogs made of seasoned textured soybean protein, and faux chicken strips using wheat gluten.


Can you get enough protein on a plant-based diet?

Yes, you can get enough nutrition from plant-based foods. A variety of legumes, grains, nuts, seeds, as well as grains provide amino acid to help you build muscle and stay healthy. Tofu, a soy product, contains all nine essential amino acids your body cannot produce and must get from food. When combined with legumes or grains, vegetables like spinach, kale, and broccoli are high in protein, they can provide adequate nutrition. Plant-based proteins are more satiating than animal proteins, and have lower levels of saturated fat. Additional nutrients such as omega-3 fatty acids can be added to plant-based diets through the addition of flaxseeds (chia seeds), walnuts, and hemp seeds.


Is there a limit to how much meat you can eat on a plantbased diet?

On a plant-based diet, no meat is allowed. This lifestyle prohibits the consumption of any animal products, such as meat, poultry, fish and other animals. Many vegan substitutes are available that offer the same taste and texture, but without any animal products. Soy-based meats like tofu, seitan, tempeh (fermented soy beans), and mock duck made with mushrooms can replicate the flavor of traditional meat dishes. Vegetarian burgers made of black beans and/or quinoa can be as good as beef burgers. Coconut bacon strips or eggplant bacon bits, tofu mayo and veggie hot dog made with seasoned-textured soy proteins are other tasty vegan alternatives. These options are perfect for those looking to make the transition to a plantbased diet.


Are plant-based meals more expensive than other types of diets?

Plant-based diets are not always more expensive than other types of diets. It's possible to eat a balanced and plant-based meal without having to spend much, depending on the amount of food consumed. Grains, beans, eggs and nuts can all be very affordable and offer a great source of protein at a lower cost. You can reduce your food expenses by buying in bulk and taking advantage of sales. Apart from individual ingredients, you can also save money by purchasing ready-to cook plant-based meals.
