Aaron’s Journey to Healing: Overcoming Autoimmune Diseases with the Carnivore Diet

Deep dive into a success story from the past: updated December 2023

Introduction

We are excited to share another story from our series of real people sharing their experiences about the Carnivore Diet. Aaron is a resilient person who has turned to the Carnivore Diet in his last ditch effort to fight multiple autoimmune disorders. Aaron was at a point where he felt abandoned by the conventional diets and treatment that had failed to provide him with relief. Aaron's story is not just about diet changes. It's also a testament to hope and the human spirit when faced with life's most difficult challenges.

Aaron's transformation has been remarkable. He once believed it was impossible. Aaron was plagued by debilitating symptoms caused by conditions such as Sjogren's Syndrome or Lupus. The Autoimmune Protocol Diet and other traditional diets did not provide much relief. The journey of recovery for this man began with a search not only for physical health but also for a way out when everything seemed to be lost.

Aaron's story is about more than just a diet change. It's also a tale of finding hope when it seemed to be fading. We will explore the impact of a simple but radical diet on Aaron's health and outlook.

Aaron’s Road to Recovery - The Carnivore Diet success story

Aaron's life had been dominated by the symptoms of autoimmune disease, including Sjogren's Syndrome, and possibly Lupus. Aaron's health journey was turbulent, with many dietary trials. He spent a year following the Autoimmune Protocol Diet, where he consumed primarily chicken, vegetables and coconut products. His health declined despite his efforts. He was on the verge of despair.

Aaron's discovery was born not out of excitement but from desperation. Aaron was initially skeptical, but after deciding that it was a desperate last resort, he decided to give it a 30 day trial. The decision was made at a time when his health was deteriorating to such an extent that he had been contemplating suicide. Aaron was bedridden and about to quit his job when he began the Carnivore Diet. It wasn't just a way to improve his health, but also a lifeline.

It was a major change from his former eating habits. The diet is characterized by a strict adherence to the consumption of meat. Aaron adopted a strict diet consisting of only beef and meat, without any compromise. Eggs, dairy products, coffee and salt were all eliminated from his diet. Salt was a cause of his autoimmune symptoms. The strict diet also included organs such as beef and calf gizzards and hearts, along with chicken gizzards and livers.

Aaron's results were truly miraculous. Aaron's symptoms started to improve. Sjogren's Syndrome caused him chronic dryness, but this decreased significantly. He was able to broadcast a game of baseball without needing dry mouth remedies. This was an emotional accomplishment for him. His reliance on Plaquenil and thyroid medication for autoimmune symptoms also decreased. This was a major step in his quest to achieve complete remission.

Aaron's story does not only focus on the physical benefits that the Carnivore Diet provides; it also focuses on a profound change in his life. This is a journey that takes you from despair to renewed hope and health.

Alleviating Autoimmune Symptoms

Aaron's autoimmune symptoms improved dramatically after he adopted the Carnivore Diet. Aaron, who suffered from conditions such as Sjogren's Syndrome or Lupus, had a variety of symptoms that were debilitating and severely affected his quality of living. The Carnivore Diet with its strict regiment of meat and only water brought Aaron a welcome and surprising relief.

Aaron's Sjogren Syndrome was impacted by the diet in a particularly notable way. The condition, which is characterized by extreme aridity of the mouth and eyes as well as other parts of his body, was a constant source for Aaron's discomfort and inconvenience. Carnivore Diet improved these symptoms. Aaron's dry-mouth symptoms significantly improved, which was a life-changing change. He was able to do his broadcasting job without having to use gum or lozenges all the time, which he never thought possible.

Aaron also noticed improvements in his other autoimmune symptoms. Eliminating inflammatory triggers from his diet had a positive impact on his overall levels of inflammation. It was evident by his decreased dependency on Plaquenil which is traditionally prescribed to manage autoimmune conditions. Aaron's journey to medication reduction, and eventually cessation, is testament to the diet’s efficacy for managing and possibly reversing auto-immune symptoms.

The benefits of the Carnivore Diet go beyond health. Aaron was able to regain parts of his life which his illness had taken from him. It gave him a sense that his health was under control and normal. This had been an elusive feeling for so long. Aaron's mental and emotional well-being has improved significantly since adopting the diet.

Improved Physical Well-being and Medication Independence

Aaron's Carnivore Diet also led to an improvement in his physical health, which in turn reduced his dependency on medication. The chronic nature of Aaron's health issues makes this aspect of his journey particularly inspiring.

Aaron relied on Plaquenil and thyroid medication to manage his symptoms. A few months after starting the diet, Aaron noticed that his body had begun to heal. Heart palpitations were a sign that thyroid hormone was being overproduced, and his thyroid function had improved. He gradually reduced and then stopped his thyroid medication as a result. His heart rate had normalized and his thyroid function was improving.

Aaron's dependence on Plaquenil - a long term medication for autoimmune disease - also decreased significantly. It is amazing that Aaron could even consider stopping the medication he had previously believed was a necessity for life. The shift to medication independence was not only a physical but also a mental relief, as it meant he had regained control of his health.

Aaron's energy and physical activity improved significantly, even beyond the reduction of his medication. Aaron began to exercise regularly, including tennis and gym workouts, which were hindered before by his autoimmune symptoms. The improvement in his energy and reduction of chronic pain are further evidence that the diet had a positive effect on his health.

Aaron's journey to improved physical health and medication independence highlights a crucial benefit of the Carnivore Diet. It shows its ability to not only manage but reverse the course of chronic conditions. This leads to a healthier, more active life, free from medication.

Conclusion

Aaron's story is an inspiring testament to the Carnivore Diet. It's not only about diet changes that made his journey from despair to hope and health possible. It is also about the strength of the human spirit. Aaron's story shows that even the most unusual paths can produce extraordinary results. Aaron's remarkable improvement in autoimmune symptomatology, his increased physical well-being and his journey to medication independence are shining example of how a focused diet can dramatically alter the course chronic health conditions.

Aaron gained more than physical benefits from the Carnivore Diet. It gave him renewed purpose and optimism. It is an incredible achievement that Aaron was able to reclaim parts of his life which were previously hindered due to his health issues. Aaron's story can be an inspiration for anyone who is facing similar health challenges. It is a reminder that hope is never lost and that the solution may sometimes lie in unexpected places.

Aaron Interview

Introduce yourself.

Aaron. Just over six months ago, I started the carnivore lifestyle. I am using the carnivore to heal several autoimmune diseases. Before I started carnivore, I had given up hope in life. Before now, I had given up on life.

2) What did you eat prior to Carnivore?

Before I tried the carnivore, I did the AIP for a whole year. (Autoimmune Protocol Diet). On this diet, I ate a lot more meat and vegetables; as well as coconut products. Most of the meat was chicken. I had never eaten much beef in my life until now. Before carnivore, I had only a few steaks. Before I started the AIP diet, I was a mix of foods. I did not eat fast-food. I never drank soda. I thought my diet was healthy, but it continued to deteriorate.

3) Why did Carnivore appeal to you?

This was a diet of last resort. When I heard about the carnivore lifestyle, I thought that it was crazy. It certainly wasn't healthy. My health was failing, so I committed suicide. I had been bedridden for three months and would have to give up my job.

After much soul-searching and consideration, my competitive spirit and love for my wife and children pushed me to decide to try this new diet. What had I got to lose? Nothing. Quite honestly, I thought that 30 days would be enough to see what happened. I was going to continue if I felt any improvement. If I didn't feel better, I thought that I could commit suicide. I felt no better after 30 days. But, some subtle changes began to occur and my curiosity kept keep me going.

How do you personally approach a Carnivore Diet?

Carnivores are a very strict group. I only eat meat and drink water. No eggs. No dairy. No coffee. No salt. Salt makes my autoimmune symptoms worse, and causes me to swell. I eat mostly beef. I buy a slab ribeyes each week and that's what I eat. Organs are added to my diet a few days a week. I eat chicken hearts and gizzards, as well as livers. In the beginning, I ate chicken, salmon and shrimp. Although I don't mind eating them now, beef is more satisfying.

What are the benefits you have seen since beginning your Carnivore Diet?

I may have Sjogren Syndrome and Lupus. It's difficult to diagnose autoimmune disease, and they all look the same. Although my symptoms have improved, I still need to improve a great deal. It will take me a lot more patience and discipline to be completely healthy. I have been sick most of my adult life. Sjogren's Syndrome is characterized by dryness of the eyes, nose, mouth and other parts. Sweat glands can be affected and blocked. I feel like my mouth is much healthier. I used to need to use mouthwash all day to keep my mouth moist. To keep my mouth feeling comfortable, I used gum or lozenges. I kept 3 or 4 lozenges and gum in my bag at all times when broadcasting. Now I only use mouthwash twice a week and don't chew gum. Since over four months, I haven't had a single lozenge. Even broadcasting a baseball match in late May, I had nothing in my mouth. Never in a million years did I think that was possible. It was a shock. After the three-hour match, I was alone in the press room and felt like crying. No one will ever know what that meant to my life. I can tell that my life has changed. And by just eating meat? I still find it absurd. Seriously.

I sweat more now than I did before, and it is a sign that my health has improved. It's a great feeling to feel it trickle down my face.

I've stopped taking my thyroid medication. I took it for about a year-and-a half, because my thyroid was slow. I was taking a large dose of the hormone, which made me feel better and warmer. After a few weeks of carnivore I began to experience heart palpitations. This was an indication of too much estrogen. I reduced my dose and evaluated. My heart palpitations continued until I reduced my dosage to a very low amount. I decided to keep taking the low dose. After a few weeks, I noticed that my resting heart beat was above 100. I didn't even realize it. My heart rate dropped to the low 60's and then the mid 70's when I stopped taking the thyroid medication. My thyroid seems to be fine after being off the medication for more than a month.

Plaquenil has been my medication for autoimmune disease for many years. I've been told to take it for the rest my life. It can cause serious side effects. I'm currently trying to get completely off of it. As of the date this article was written, I had not taken it for over three weeks and intend to continue doing so. It will be amazing and a big step in my recovery if I can stop taking Plaquenil. It's astonishing.

I want to be able to stop all medication and have my condition in total remission. Only time will tell.

What are the negatives of the Carnivore Diet?

It is difficult to eat this way while on the road. I am very strict and haven't eaten restaurant food. I don't believe it and I want to be as healthy as possible before I try that. I know that many people eat burgers or steaks from fast food restaurants, but I don't. So I need to find a way to survive away from home. Right now, all I do is drink water and fast. My next broadcasting season will include a series of road trips lasting a week. What will I do then? I'm not certain. I might need a favor from other carnivores who can bring me steak when I'm in an unfamiliar city. This community is very friendly and helpful. I might actually do it. Many people have also spoken about the negative social effects of this diet. It's possible but I don't feel it. When I go to eat with friends, I will just sit and drink water. I don't care. I don't think it's awkward. It's much worse to be sick than sit in a restaurant drinking only water.

The dating scene is also different. I do more physical things than go to a restaurant or bar.

7) Do You Exercise on the Carnivore Diet? If so, how do you go about it and what are you doing?

Carnivore has also been a bright spot for exercise. I exercise 3 to 4 times per week. I also walk long distances, play tennis, and stay active in general. My right elbow was very sore from lifting for two years. The pain was constant and really affected my bench pressing. My elbow pain was gone after about 3-4 months on the carnivore-based diet. It is amazing that I have never had chronic pain before. This is for someone who has multiple autoimmune disorders and an active lifestyle. My sleep and energy are improving. I have had a sleep disorder that has been debilitating for years.

What advice would you offer to someone who has been considering this diet but isn't ready to make the jump?

What do you have to lose? Will only eating meat make things worse? You must be sick to want to change your life.

I would tell someone to start off with a lot of discipline. I would only eat beef and drink a lot of water. I wouldn't use coffee. I don't believe coffee is a carnivore. I wouldn't eat dairy or eggs. After you become accustomed to the diet you can start adding back some foods and tailor it to your lifestyle. It is important to start with a simple and disciplined diet. Commit yourself to the task at hand. Be patient. Be patient. Do not compare yourself with others. Your health deserves it!

9) Do You Think Carnivore Diet Will Ever Be Accepted As A Mainstream Diet?

I don't know and I don’t think that it should be. Who cares if mainstream diets are unhealthy today? I could care less about what people think about my diet. I will do anything to keep fighting for my own life. Sharing stories and talking with people can help spread the message. This part is very useful and excellent. People will see that something positive is happening within the carnivore population if they are open-minded and smart. I don't care what the doctors or media think. I am always honest when someone asks me a question.

I have to add that my current doctor has been very receptive about the carnivore lifestyle. He's interested in my progress and has said that he might recommend the carnivore to other autoimmune sufferers after seeing what happens to me.

What would you like to add and how can others follow your journey?

People can follow my journey on Instagram, at CarnivoreBroadcaster.

I'm always happy to answer any questions. I understand what it is like to suffer, and I do not want anyone else to experience that. It's debilitating. I know what it feels like to want die and that things can change. This is something I can attest to. I want to let people know that I am still a work-in-progress. I still have my bad days. I still have my doubts. Will my health ever be completely restored? Will I ever be healthy enough to get married and start a family? My terrible health has shattered all of my dreams, and I'm trying to rebuild them. I will not stop until I get my life back! My life is changing, even though I still have a lot to do. I want to be as open and honest as possible.

Mikhaila, Shawn Baker, and Tristan Haggard are also people I personally want to thank. Among others, they were instrumental in convincing to me try the carnivore. Carnivore saved my life. I wouldn't be alive today if not for it. It's the truth. They and everyone else have my best wishes. Continue to share your stories and help. You are changing the lives of others.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it really necessary to have a Keto Food List

What is the best way to determine if you have a keto food guide? Probably an important part of your keto journey. The key to reaping the benefits of the ketogenic diet is eating high-fat, low carb foods. Finding the best fuel to achieve your goals can seem difficult with so many food options and recipes.

You can plan your meals easier by knowing which foods you are allowed to eat on this diet. A keto food list helps simplify the process by providing information about what you should eat, plus a few ideas on how to prepare them. It can be used to guide you when you go shopping or dining out.

A well-balanced nutrition approach can also help you lose weight while maintaining your overall health. This means that you should consume 12-15% protein, 15-30% of fat, and no more then 5% net carbs in order to reach the metabolic state called ketosis. The goal is to identify the most desirable meals and choose those that are high in nutrients while minimizing carbs.

Finding a reliable keto food list that outlines nutritious options within these parameters can provide invaluable guidance in transitioning toward cleaner eating habits for improved well-being and purposeful living. This helpful resource will help you get closer to your goals for lifestyle.

What amount of fat should you eat?

When following a ketogenic diet, it is important to ensure that you get enough essential fatty acids. You should eat healthy fats rich foods like avocados and salmon. You should also make sure you include other fat sources in your diet like butter, olive oil and coconut oil. These fats provide various health benefits, including improved cognitive function, digestion, and a stronger immune system. It is best to consume between 25-35% to 25% of your calories from fat.

It is also important to remember that when following a ketogenic diet, you should be mindful of the fats you consume. Saturated and trans fats should be avoided as much as possible, as they can increase your risk for heart disease and other chronic illnesses. Instead, focus on incorporating healthy fat sources such as olive oil, avocados, nuts, and fatty fish into your diet. Doing so will ensure you get the essential fatty acids and other nutrients your body needs to stay healthy and energized.

Aside from eating healthy fats, it's important to monitor how much you eat. Too much fat can lead you to weight gain. However, too little fat can cause fatigue and other health problems. Finding a balance that works for you and your lifestyle is key. An app or food journal can be used to keep track of your daily fat intake. This will help you keep track of your daily intake and ensure that you receive the right amount essential fatty acids.

The ketogenic diet is not meant to be a quick weight loss solution. Although it may help you lose weight quickly, it is not a good way to eat balanced meals and get sufficient nutrients. Overeating fats or too few carbohydrates can lead, among other things, to nutritional deficiencies and other health problems. It is important that you consult your doctor before beginning a ketogenic diet.

What happens to your body if you cheat on keto

Unsightly side effects can result from carbohydrate intake when you cheat on the keto diet. Starchy carbs can cause your blood sugar levels to rapidly rise if you suddenly eat them. This leads to dehydration since water has to be used for your cells to return to a homeostatic state. A lack of essential minerals, such as potassium and sodium, can cause electrolyte imbalances.

In addition to these problems, keto-cheats can experience constipation or diarrhea from high-carbohydrate diets. Although these symptoms can be short-term, they can be disruptive and uncomfortable. People may also feel deprived and binge on high carb foods, which could lead to dangerous cycle of feeling hungry.

You should remember that cheat meals and snacks won't ruin weeks or months of progress on keto. As long as you adhere to your net carb limits, there will be consequences if you stray from your meal plan for extended periods.

What is an example of a ketogenic meal?

Feasting on a ketogenic diet has never been easier. Just think of it as regular healthy eating, but with an extra special twist. The twist is to ditch processed carbs and replace them with high-quality fats and proteins.

You'll enjoy the numerous health benefits this diet offers, such as improved energy, cognitive performance and better digestion. It's all possible while enjoying delicious, great-tasting meals.

So what does an example of a tasty ketogenic meal look like? You could have grilled salmon with fresh kale and parmesan cheese. Then, you would pair it with roasted cauliflower with olive oil and freshly chopped herbs. It could be an omelet filled with bacon bits, bell peppers and cheese, all cooked in your favorite buttery spread.

Whatever route you choose to take when creating your next keto meal recipe, quality ingredients will make it a winner. Let's get creative! Get in the kitchen and discover new flavors while enjoying healthy recipes that can change your life.

What is lazy keto and keto?

Gauging the difference between lazy keto and keto is key to understanding which one fits your lifestyle and health needs. Traditional ketogenic diets are more beneficial for weight loss, mental clarity and energy regulation. They are higher in fats, moderately protein and lower in carbs. Lazy keto is an easier approach that has no restrictions on carbs.

Contrary to popular belief, lazy keto does not pay as much attention to macronutrient tracking. Instead, it focuses more on a basic low-carb diet that has fewer restrictions and still reaps the benefits of traditional keto diets such as weight loss, mental clarity and improved appetite control. It is often used as a starting point for people who are new to keto.

Keto can take hours of research to find the right recipes and measure macro-nutrients when you prepare meals. While this process can be time-consuming, it is very effective. Carb intake will become more restricted as fat consumption rises. Lazy keto, as its name implies, is a more relaxed approach to low-carb eating. It doesn't require precise calculations and requires less research.

In short, the traditional ketogenic diets offer intensive but high-quality results. The lazy keto diet offers an alternative option for those who can't commit to a consistent diet plan.

What is the suggested lazy keto diet?

The beginning of your keto journey is exciting, but it can also be intimidating. It's easy for people to become overwhelmed by the amount of information available online. This is where the lazy keto diet comes in.

Rather than tracking every detail of your macros, a lazy keto diet focuses on reducing net carbohydrate intake to 25-50 grams daily to enter and stay in a state of ketosis. This approach is less restrictive than traditional keto diets as it doesn't require you to keep an eye on your macronutrient ratio or caloric intake.

The lazy ketogenic diet allows you to forgo tracking macros in favor of whole low-carb food choices that you love. You are encouraged to eat moderate amounts of meat, eggs, dairy products and nuts while avoiding added sugars and starchy carbohydrates.

This is the perfect way to transition to low-carb living, without having your meals sacrificed or depriving yourself of important nutrients. Lazy Keto is ideal for people starting to lose weight, who do not have the time or knowledge necessary to follow a keto diet.

What does it take for lazy keto to begin losing weight?

It can be difficult and confusing to figure how long it will take for you to lose weight following the lazy keto program. There are many factors which influence the success of the diet. It won't be the exact same for everyone. It all depends on your lifestyle, goals, and how you adhere to this diet.

According to studies, you can see a gradual decrease in body fat after around two weeks. Studies show that fat loss can be affected by factors such as body composition and caloric intake. The best advice is to keep on track and stick to the plan.

If you aren't a regular exerciser, don't worry. The majority of people who follow this plan can expect to lose at least some weight within the first few weeks. You can see visible results as soon as seven days after you start exercising and eating healthy.

For any lifestyle change, including starting a fitness program or eating healthier, consistency is essential. The results of programs like lazy keto can be achieved quickly with hard work, dedication, knowledge, perseverance, and hardwork.

How To

How to find out if the ketogenic diet is working for your needs

Understanding the power of your diet starts with exploring potential benefits. With the right diet, you can experience better physical and mental well-being and get your body functioning in a balanced, healthy state.

One possible solution is the ketogenic diet. But how can you tell if it's working or not? It's important that you can accurately assess the impact of this eating style on your health and lifestyle.

It is possible to track your reactions after following the diet plan. You can track how much energy your body has throughout the day. For instance, does it feel like your stomach is fuller? Has your digestion improved? Is your quality of sleep better? Do certain activities increase or decrease discomfort levels?

These are all important points to remember. Consider what outstanding issues need addressing and track those particular points as a priority - see if there are improvements over time according to your individual needs. You should also monitor your metabolic levels, such as blood sugar and cholesterol. This will help you to determine whether the ketogenic plan is helping or hindering your progress towards your desired goals.

Also, take a look at your body composition to see if there have been any changes in muscle gain or fat loss. The ketogenic diet can be beneficial if you experience slow but steady progress over time.
