1) Tell us about yourself.

Hey! It's Jessica. I am a Marylander who lives in Georgia. I'm a Master Cosmetologist but I love cooking and spending time with my dogs. My travels, which have taken me to five states, I think have helped open my mind.

How did you used to eat prior to Carnivore?

Before I changed to carnivore, I was on keto for 6 months. Before keto, I was AWESOME. I consumed at least two 20oz Coca Cola bottles daily. My favorite foods were pasta, bread and sugar. It's difficult to work at the salon because the fridge is always stocked with sweets and cokes, my main vices.

Why did you first try Carnivore?

The keto diet had helped me lose weight, but my sweet tooth was still there. All the fat bombs and keto treats, I thought, were hindering my progress. After I sprained back 2 years ago, I still had persistent back pain. The last reason is that I had plantar fasciitis, and I wanted to see if it was possible for me to heal myself. My family has a history of diabetes, so I'm also trying to prevent it.

4) What is your personal approach to the Carnivore Diet?

Low stress. I don't track anything anymore, but I used to. The limiting thought is "damn I can only eat this ...?"". Instead, I say, "yes, this is exciting, I get to fuel myself with it." I'm not a purist; I still use some keto ingredients and spices. Food can be a big part of social life, so I try to prepare and avoid giving in.

What are the benefits you have seen since beginning your Carnivore Diet?

I don't have to worry about my feet getting hurt when I exercise barefoot. My back pain has almost disappeared, something I never expected to happen. My hair grows about an inch per month. This is twice the normal rate of hair growth. My skin is so clear and supple that I don't need to moisturize at all. It may sound horrible, but my favourite benefit is that I don't feel bloated or uncomfortable when I eat meat and go to work. I feel more relaxed, and my brain fog seems to have lifted!

6) Have you noticed any negative effects of the Carnivore Diet?

It's hard to resist cravings. This is not a problem with carnivore. It's just me. I'm fine for a few days, but then "relapse", and I haven’t yet found a way to heal my sugar addiction. The waiters/waitresses who are so eager to serve me salads and sides when I tell them repeatedly no is another negative. It's ridiculous, but it is very annoying. You have to pay for the side dishes even if you don't want them.

7) Do You Exercise on the Carnivore Diet? If so, how do you go about it and what are you doing?

I didn't at first. Slowly, I am improving my fitness. In April, I began working out regularly. My endurance is much better, and the next morning I'm not as sore. I do weight training 4-5 days a week with 3 of those days being dedicated to glute exercises.

What advice would you offer to someone who has been considering this diet but isn't ready to make the jump?

You can still enjoy cheese!

I would like to believe so. It was mainstream for millions of year before it was cool to be mainstream. It's hard to deny that there are now so many people who have found true healing. I hope that it does not become a debate about the constitutionality of eating meat... as that is where mainstream media seems to be heading.

Your keto diet plan must limit your carb intake while increasing the amount of healthy fats. However, there are plenty of plant-based alternative options to choose from to stay within your chosen guidelines.

First, determine the best proteins and fats for you. There are many great alternatives to butter, such as avocado oil, coconut oil and nut oil. Meat substitutes, such as tofu or tempeh, can be used as an alternate source of protein. Nuts and seed provide delicious crunchy textures.

Regarding sweets, creamy coconut milk or plant-based yogurts make amazing substitutions for heavy cream or sour cream -- add sugar or honey for sweeter recipes. Vegan cheeses made with cashews and macadamia nuts can be substituted for dairy cheese by cheese lovers.

Don't forget to add other seasonings to make your dishes stand out. Spices, vinegars, citrus juices and herbs can all be used to flavor food so they have a unique flavor, regardless of whether they contain dairy. You can maintain a dairy-free keto diet if you keep in mind the principles and recognize tasty ways to overcome food restrictions.


What happens to your body when you cheat on keto?

Can I eat a keto vegetarian diet?

Understanding the basics of vegetarian ketosis is crucial to determine whether you are allowed to eat it. It's not difficult to follow a vegetarian keto lifestyle. This means you will have to eliminate animal products from your diet, and instead eat plant-based foods that are low in carbohydrates and high in fats.

Watching your macronutrients is the most important part of a vegan diet. This includes balancing carbohydrates, proteins, fats, and carbohydrate intake. Fat should be increased and protein should be reduced. Your body should consume fewer carbohydrates to reach a optimal metabolic state known nutritional ketosis. This will cause your body to burn fat instead of glucose for energy.

You'll need to calculate macros and monitor carbohydrate intake. Vitamin B12, which is essential for vegan ketogenic eating, should be supplemented as many people do not have sufficient of it due to poor diets.

Learning about plant-based options such as tofu and tempeh, along with some strategic supplementation with macro counting, will help you reach your nutrient goals for a successful vegetarian keto diet.


What is lazy keto vs. keto?

To understand which one is best for you, it's important to know the difference between lazy and keto.
