Keto Steak Stir-fry with Creamy Asiago Sauce

This recipe for steak medallions with creamy asiago is keto-approved and prepared in one pan. It is a delicious and filling meal.

You may already be familiar with some food combinations, such as tomato and cheese, chocolate and peanut butter, caramel with sea salt and steak in a creamy sauce. There's nothing like the combination of rich, high-quality beef and silky smooth sauces.

Asiago cheese has a similar taste to parmesan and a fragrant, nutty flavor. This keto-friendly sauce is made with generous amounts of butter, heavy cream and other ingredients that melt on the stove. The sauce can be prepared in the same skillet that you used to cook the vegetables and steak, so it will retain all of the flavors and juices from the herbs.

The meat and sauce are both heavy, so adding bell peppers and mushroom to the dish will lighten it up and give you a bit of color in every bite. You can garnish it with parsley or eat it right from the pan!

Yields two servings of Keto Steak stir-fry with Creamy Asiago Sauce

The Preparation

  • half medium red peppers, cut
  • Yellow bell pepper, cut
  • 3 ounce cremini mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil
  • 8-ounce beef fillet
  • salt and pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon Onion Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon Butter
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup asiago cheese

The Execution

1. Prepare all ingredients. Slice the peppers, mushrooms and onions. Garlic powder, onion pepper, salt and pepper are all good options for seasoning the beef fillets.

2. Add olive oil to the pan and heat it on medium. Once the oil has heated, add the steaks to the pan and sear both sides. Cook until desired doneness. As it will be added to the pan later, we recommend that you keep it rare. About 2-3 minutes on each side.

After the steak has finished cooking, allow it to rest. Leave as much fat as possible in the pan.

3. Season the peppers and mushrooms with Italian seasoning and salt and pepper according to your taste. Then, toss the vegetables in the remaining fat. Cook for about 5 minutes or until the potatoes are soft. Remove to a large bowl and set it aside once done.

4. Cut the steak into thin slices.

5. Add the butter and any remaining pan drippings to the pan. Add the cream and the cheese once the butter has melted and is bubbling. Mix well.

6. The sauce will coat the vegetables and steak. Cook for 1-2 minutes, until all ingredients are heated. Place a lid on the pan, and simmer the steak for a few minutes if you wish to cook it more.

7. Enjoy!
