Introduce yourself.
Desiree Peralta is a 28-year-old mother of three children, ranging in age from 2 to 10 years. After having my third child, I decided to take a break from banking and stay at home. Home-schooling and working to start my own business have made life crazy.
How did you used to eat prior to Carnivore?
Prior to the carnivore dieting, I ate healthy food (or at least what was considered healthy). Around 6 years ago, I began "tracking macros" and following a Keto diet.
Why did you first try Carnivore?
I'd never heard of the carnivore eating diet. My third child was one and a half years old, but I still suffered from severe depression. It had been with me since becoming pregnant. It was not normal for me, as I am a very ambitious person who has a difficult time staying still. I am a mover-and-groover if you like! I did a lot of research to find out what the problem was. I only came to the conclusion that I was actually malnourished, even though I had put in all of the correct fuel. So I thought. My dear Grandad had just watched Joe Rogans' interview with Shawn Baker. He got my attention on the subject. I joked that I would be the family's guinea-pig and try this diet out to see if the hype was real. My research started when I thought, "I've got nothing left to lose."
How do you personally approach a Carnivore Diet?
The carnivore's diet is very simple for me! I consume fatty meats, eggs, and water daily. I am currently trying to wean myself off of coffee.
What are the benefits you have seen since beginning your Carnivore Diet?
I have seen countless benefits! I have more energy, my hair has stopped going grey, my allergy symptoms, swelling of my lymph nodes, vertigo, and arthritis symptoms are gone. My skin is glowing and healthy! I now have abs, the most vain of all benefits! I never knew I could have so defined muscles.
6) Have you noticed any negative effects of the Carnivore Diet?
My grocery bill is out of control! Now that my health has improved, I don't care. I will no longer have to spend my days in the doctors' office, where medical bills pile up.
7) Do You Exercise on the Carnivore Diet? If so, how do you go about it?
I exercise and eat a meat-based diet. I am a thousand times more efficient and no longer have asthma attacks during workouts. This, and the vertigo, used to be a real hindrance. I do some cardio and lift weights at least five days a week.
8) What advice would you offer to someone who has been considering this diet but isn't ready to make the jump?
Keep it simple, is my advice to anyone who wants to make the leap. Do not overthink it. Please, don't be so obsessed about the weight of the scale. Instead, focus on how you feel and your health. Once your body has healed, you will see the physical benefits.
9) Do You Think Carnivore Diet Will Ever Be Accepted As A Mainstream Diet?
I hope it will become a popular way to eat. For too long, we have been eating wrong.
What would you like to add and how can others follow your journey?
This diet has helped not only my own health but also that of my children and husband. We know our own bodies better than anyone. If nothing else seems to be working, it is worth investigating the carnivore lifestyle. Why not? You'll never know unless you try. I didn't know this level of quality was possible. I wish that others would also discover these benefits, so they could live a life of optimal health.
