You're hopeful that you will find someone special and are looking for new ways to spice up your first date. Sweet! Sweet!
Food can make any occasion more memorable and fun. If you are on a first date, it can also be a great way for you to have fun, flirt and learn about your partner.
These are ten creative ways to make your first date more fun and exciting with food.
1. Cook together
This one is simple. I'm not reinventing anything. There are some ways to make your first cooking experience memorable. (I meant the first time you cook together, sheesh!)
This is not a good way to meet someone you haven’t met in person. It's more like a "I met you on a dating app, and we have mutual friends. My cousin vouches to you and I feel at ease having you in my home." kind of thing.
You feel comfortable being at the newbie's home, or vice versa. Next is to make a plan and be ready. This means that you need to plan what you are making, and also bring the necessary tools. I like dishes that are easy to make, tasty, and quick to cook.
My blog has some great recipes that you can use for your first date.
A 100% Plant-Based Date Night Menu
You could start with some beautiful green zucchini fritters, or spring rolls that are colorful and filled with peanut sauce. You can also choose from many other vegan appetizers!
There are three great options for entrees: Fettuccini alfredo, stuffed shells with roast asparagus, stuffed acorns with rice pilaf or my favorite Peanutty Dranken Noodles.
You could also make a lemon olive oil cake for dessert if you are looking for a complete finish to your meal. Or tapioca pudding and date truffles if it's too distracting from the cuteness of your date.
2. You're not vegan but you are going out with one. Impress her (or him!) with your shiitakes.
But I have found that it is possible to really stand out here, for better and for worse. Here are two examples of the opposites of first dates that I have had in the past year.
The Lame Date
One was with a person who was out of town. I was driving through his hometown (which also happened to be home to one of my favorite vegan restaurants). I suggested that we meet at this restaurant, which serves great comfort food and is loved by many omnivores. His response was "I'd love to go somewhere we both can eat."
Um, dude. What if you can't eat vegan one meal? Wow! But, hey, it was okay. I suggested that we go somewhere else. He ordered lamb and didn't ask me if I would mind. He was nice, but that didn't mean he was going to impress me. Buh-bye.
This is the Date I Will Definitely Go Out Again
Another date was with someone who said, "Let's go wherever you like--where can we get a great vegetarian meal?" As there were no vegan restaurants open at that time, we decided to try a sushi bar. He asked me if he would mind ordering fish. I replied, quite honestly, "No, that's okay!" You can do whatever you want.
He was overcome by wild intelligence and said, "You know what?" Let's just eat all vegan food. "I'm going vegan with you tonight." We did.
He ordered every vegan sushi item on the menu. He even made sure that the dessert was vegan.
So, yeah. You can be that guy.
Do not be that guy who can't even eat one vegan meal on a first date. Although the guy had many good qualities and was a lot of fun to talk with, it wasn't set up for a long-term relationship or even a second date.
In a nutshell: Find a place your veg*n friend is excited about. If you feel you have to eat something other than vegan, you can ask them. You'll be an amazing superhero if you eat vegan with your date.
3. Choose a vegan-friendly restaurant that offers romantic possibilities
Now that you know you are going to a veg-friendly place, even if your diet is not vegetarian or vegan, let's take it one more step. Get as sexy and exotic as you can.
Ambient lighting (preferably candles), comfortable seats and tables that aren’t too close together will allow you to freely talk and flirt. If possible, avoid spots that are brightly lit or noisy, as well as those with communal seating.
If the thing has wings, which I'm sure it does, you'll be able to look back on your first date and recall it fondly. It should be as romantic and special as possible.
Choose a vegan restaurant if you can so that no one has to read the menu! World of Vegan's restaurant directory can help you locate the best vegan restaurants in your area.
4. Sit as if you mean it
As we arrived at the table, a first date shared something that I will never forget: "I want you to be close to me, but I also want eye contact when we speak." He could be a teacher on setting the scene for a wonderful dinner. He was not only thoughtful and thought the right way, but he also expressed it verbally. Nice job, mister.
We sat down at the benchy table, with him to my right (not directly across from me but still a great spot for eye contact and arm touches).
It is fine to sit directly in front of someone, but if you feel the table is too large or it makes more sense, then consider sitting "next" someone. You don't have to be right next to each other, but you should be on the same side. If it is easy to make eye contact and remain close, then go ahead. Don't be afraid to be yourself, just like my date. It takes courage to be so intimate, and most people will be happy to hear it.
5. Select sexy food
You want to feel light, energetic, and sexy on a first date, especially. Favorite foods include asparagus, berries and chocolate.
On a first date, I recommend staying away form heavy foods. Deep-fried food or sugary foods can make you feel tired.
6. Sharing is caring
It's good to share, your mom said it. This lovely principle is now applied to food, not toys.
One of the most exciting and romantic things to do on your first date is to share food. It's a way to make your first date feel more intimate, such as ordering several dishes and giving your date a piece of your pasta. It's so much fun to share a glass of your beverage. It's like saying, "Hey hot stuff! I don't mind you germs!" Hint-hint."
There seem to be two types in the world: those who prefer to eat their own dish and those who are excited to order a few and split them. If you and your date do not want to share dishes, it's no problem. But if you are both open to the idea, have some fun!
7. Hiring a professional
Ew. That's not the kind of thing! You need to get your head out of the gutter. To give your date a different experience, you might consider hiring a chef or instructor in vegan cooking.
You can also hire a caterer who is veg-friendly to host an intimate dinner for you and your partner if you feel like spending too much. You can also take a class together. I once taught a couple's cooking class, and it was sweet and romantic.
This route is recommended, but you should ensure that you have plenty of alone time with your date after the event. Conversation is the most important part of any first date. It's about getting to know each other.
8. Enjoy your food. Play with your food!
This is not vegan whipped cream. That's more for a fifth date. This is a fun little PG-related food.
If you feel flirty and enjoy the relationship you have so far, you might be able to share a meal together. Ask your date if you can share some of your sushi with him. Then, give it to your date (preferably with your fingers--how HOT is that ?!).).
Eye contact is also a good idea, regardless of whether you are giving your date a tasty morsel or just putting food in your mouth. Eye contact can be a great way to have fun while you eat.
Don't forget to touch your fingers if you reach for the seitan wings simultaneously. Oops.
9. Avoid foods that can make your breath smell or are very messy.
Although I am the first to add twenty cloves of roasted garlic to my salad, I'm smart enough to not do it on a first date.
The following logic is usually good: "Since I don't have a frame of reference for what my breath smells like, I'll just go ahead and check it out from what I'm about eat."
This logic is also applicable to messy food. Because your date has never seen you eat, she doesn't know that you are a good cook. And that super-sloppy burrito running down your shirt and hand doesn't increase your sex appeal. Perhaps you can save this for a second date.
It's okay to show your true self and enjoy garlic, onions and sloppy foods. But save that for those times when you know your date won't be the same. You should give them every chance to agree to a second date.
10. Have fun
After you've had a good dose of date-spiration, it's time to forget about all the rules and be yourself. Let us know how it goes!

Can I eat meat while following a plant-based diet
Plant-based diets allow for certain foods that are not made up of animal products, such as fish, meat, and poultry. A few people following a plant based diet may still eat milk and eggs. Additionally, many options are available for people looking to transition to a plant-based diet that is flavorful and protein-packed without including animal products. Plant-based diets rely on fresh fruits, vegetables, legumes like beans, lentils, nuts, seeds, and fortified foods, such as coconut milk and non-dairy almond milk.
You can find vegan products at most grocery stores, in addition to vegan restaurants that specialize in vegan food. Tofu, seitan (wheat flour), tempeh(fermented soybeans), mock duck made with mushrooms, and other soy-based meats can all replicate the taste and texture of traditional meat dishes. There is an ever-growing selection of vegetarian burgers made out of black beans or quinoa that come pretty close to the taste of beef burgers.
Many plant-based options are available for those who don't want to eat meat, but still want something other than a meal replacement. There are many vegan alternatives, including coconut bacon strips or eggplant bits; tofu mighto; veggie hotdogs made with seasoned and textured soy proteins; and faux chicken strips made of wheat gluten. Furthermore, while some processed forms of fermented fungi, like mushrooms, taste like something similar to steak or pork when cooked properly, they can have similar sensory properties as meat but with significantly less environmental impact due to their far lower water use when compared with livestock production. You can safely replace the meat you once ate with these alternative foods, which makes it easier to switch to a plant-based lifestyle.
What are some of the benefits of eating a plant-based diet
A plant-based diet offers many benefits such as improved heart and digestive health. It also provides energy, reduced stress hormones and possible environmental protection. Plant-based proteins include legumes, beans, nuts, whole grains, and soy-based products with higher fiber levels and lower saturated fat levels than animal proteins. Vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, vitamins and other beneficial substances can be found in plant-based diets. These can help to protect against cell damage due to inflammation and oxidative stress, which can lead into chronic diseases like heart disease and cancer. A higher intake of fruits and vegetables may increase fiber intake. This can help feed the gut bacteria and improve digestion. Research shows that a plant based diet may be able to improve moods by reducing stress hormones. It is also becoming increasingly popular to avoid animal protein consumption in order to reduce environmental damage due to factory farming.

How To
How can I incorporate more whole food into a plant-based lifestyle?
It is important to make an effort to eat more whole foods in a plant-based diet for optimal health. This will help increase your intake of vitamins and nutrients, as well as dietary fiber. Start by replacing unhealthy processed foods and animal proteins with nutritious alternatives such as legumes or seeds. You can get sustenance from whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and nuts.
Focus on including a variety in colors in every meal. Colorful ingredients contain powerful antioxidants that boost immunity - think red pepper strips, oranges, black beans, spinach, and corn muffins! You can create meal plans based on seasonal produce and include recipes that appeal to every tastebud. Smoothies, stir-fries, and casseroles are all crowd-pleasers.
Whole foods can also have a longer shelf-life than processed foods. Planning out your week ahead can help you shop for vegan-friendly ingredients that won't spoil easily. This will make shopping easier and reduce waste.
Find other ways to maintain a balanced lifestyle. This could include making delicious vegan breads or substituting for fish with tofu. Exploration is key to making food choices that are healthy and delicious.
