Ingredient Notes
For the Wings
- Cauliflower -- Use fresh cauliflower, and chop it into uniform florets to ensure consistent baking. If you have to use frozen, thaw them first and then pat them dry with a lint free kitchen towel. This will prevent the florets from becoming soggy.
- White Rice Flour --Or all-purpose flour will also work. This thickens the batter, and makes it golden delicious!
- Vegan Wing Sauce -- I used Frank's Red Hot, which can be found in many grocery stores.
Dipping Sauce
- Vegan Mayo -- Choose any plant-based mayonnaise for a creamy ranch dip base.
- Vegan Sour Cream -- Opt for a dairy free sourcream alternative to add richness and tanginess.
- Vegan Worcestershire sauce--Ensure your Worcestershire sauce is vegan-friendly. If you cannot find any, you may omit the sauce.
- White Vinegar -- Adds acidity to the richness.
- Fresh herbs --Dill, parsley and chives give this vegan ranch dip a delicious flavor. If you want to use dried herbs instead, adjust the ratio 3:1 of fresh to dry.
How to make vegan cauliflower wings
Vegan wings can be made easily and are delicious using only a few ingredients. You only need some cauliflower, seasonings and your favorite vegan Buffalo sauce.
Step 1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Step 2 Wash the cauliflower and chop into florets. You can choose to make the wings bigger or smaller depending on what you prefer.
Step 4: Mix the flour, water and dry ingredients in a large bowl.
Step 5: Dip the cauliflower florets in the batter and coat them thoroughly. Place the florets on the baking tray.
Step 6: Bake on the middle rack of the oven until the tops are slightly golden. In the meantime, whisk all ingredients in a large mixing bowl to make vegan ranch dressing.
Step 7: Toss the wings in your favorite wing sauce when they are done. Return the wings to the oven to crisp them up for 5 more minutes.
Enjoy your vegan chicken wings and the vegan ranch sauce!
Expert Tips
- After washing, dry the cauliflower to help the batter adhere better. The wings will take longer to crisp in the oven if they are dripping wet.
- Spread out your vegan wings evenly onto the baking tray to ensure they are evenly coated. These can be cooked in the air fryer, which takes even less time. Spread them evenly, and cook for 10 to 15 minutes. Flip halfway through.
Servings Suggestions & Variations
Don't worry if you want to add some extras to your vegan buffalo cauliflower wings and ranch dip, or if you just want to customize it. Here are some great suggestions:
- Wrap up a snack This Rainbow Lavash Wrap is a beautiful addition to any plate. You can even add some buffalo cauliflower wings to it for some amazing flavor moments.
- Party with Pasta- Cold pasta is a treat. Our Fresh Picnic Pasta Salad can make your buffalo cauliflower wings more filling.
- Game Day spread – Make a vegan party platter to impress a crowd. Serve these buffalo cauliflower wings with football puff pastries and other vegan party appetizers such as Hasselback potatoes or herbed polenta chips.
- BBQ Flavored -- These cauliflower wings can be flavored with a tasty BBQ sauce instead of buffalo sauce, similar to the Barbecue Seitan Wings.
- Additional Dipping Sauces - There are never too many options to dip these vegan cauliflower wing! To double up on buffalo flavors, try this creamy dill sauce or this vegan Buffalo Queso Cheese Dip!
Stores
These wings are best eaten straight out of the oven due to the high water content in cauliflower. If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight jar in the refrigerator for a couple days.
The oven is the best way to maintain crispness. Bake them for 5 minutes on a baking tray at 350 degrees F, until they are heated through. Air-fryers are also great for reheating. Microwaving works well for something quicker. The wings will not be as crisp as they were when baked.
FAQs
You can use frozen cauliflower if you don't have any fresh. Be sure to completely thaw your cauliflower, and then pat it dry to remove excess moisture. Then dip the cauliflower in the batter.
Frank's RedHot Buffalo Wings Sauce is vegan-friendly, as are Primal Kitchen Original Buffalo Sauce Made with Avocado Oil and Noble Made Buffalo Sauce.
You can make vegan wings from a variety of plant-based ingredients to mimic the taste and appearance of chicken wings. The most realistic version is made from vital wheat gluten, a high protein flour. It's often called seitan. Since they are mild and absorb flavors well, vegan wings can also be made using mushrooms, cauliflower or tofu.
Wingstop unfortunately only offers chicken wings. Vegan options include veggie sticks, Cajun fried Corn, seasoned fries and dips.
Buffalo Wild Wings does not serve vegan food, and this includes their cauliflower wings. You can request to have the cauliflower wings baked, but not all locations will honor this request.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can a plant-based diet be harmful?
A lot of people have found health benefits in adopting a plantbased diet. However it is possible to become sick if you don't manage your diet properly or consult a doctor. People who want to transition to a plantbased lifestyle need to be mindful of their vitamin and mineral intake. Inadequate nutrition can lead to nutritional deficiencies and adverse health effects. Also, a vegan/plant-based diet could result in a reduction of important sources of protein such as eggs and dairy, which can affect muscle maintenance. Plant-based diets should be adjusted to meet individual needs. If necessary, a nutritionist or doctor can be consulted.
Can children eat a plant-based food?
Plant-based diets are becoming increasingly popular among adults due to their numerous health benefits. Parents may wonder if children can follow a plant based diet. If the diet is planned well and meets all their nutritional requirements, then children can eat a plant-based diet.
Children can grow and develop their bodies by eating plant-based foods. But it is crucial to ensure children get enough iron, calcium, vitamin D and vitamin B12. The body needs protein to grow and develop. Beans, lentils (tofu), and nuts are good options for this. Iron is necessary for healthy blood cells and can be found in leafy greens, beans, and fortified cereals. Calcium is crucial for healthy bones and can be obtained from fortified plant milk, calcium-set tofu, and leafy greens. Vitamin D is critical for bone health. It can also be obtained from sunlight exposure and fortified cow milk. Vitamin B12 is an essential vitamin for healthy nerves. It can be found only in animal products. Children on a plant-based diet may require a B12 supplement.
It is also important to ensure that children on a plant-based diet consume enough calories to meet their energy needs. It is important for parents to provide a variety whole foods such as fruits, vegetables (including whole grains), legumes, nuts, seeds, and legumes. Children may require more frequent meals or larger amounts to meet their energy demands.
It is recommended that parents consult with a healthcare professional or a registered dietitian to ensure that their child's plant-based diet is nutritionally adequate. They can help you plan meals, provide nutritional advice, and determine the right portion size for your child.
It is possible for children to safely eat a plant-based diet, provided it meets their nutritional needs. Parents can help their children have a healthy, nutritious, plant-based diet by planning well and getting guidance from a registered dietitian.
Can I eat a diet that is plant-based and still eat eggs?
Yes, eggs are not permitted on a plant based diet. This diet bans the consumption of all animal products such as meat, fish, poultry, eggs and other animal products. However, several vegan substitutes for traditionally egg-centric dishes offer similar flavor and texture without relying on animal products. Tofu scrambles or eggs can be made into great breakfast dishes. It can also replace eggs with plant-based protein. For example, chickpea flour or mashed banana can be used for binding in baked goods. Aquafaba (the liquid that comes in chickpea cans) can also substitute for eggs in making meringues. Flaxseed meal or Chia seeds mixed with water can be used as an egg substitute to preserve non-vegan dishes without compromising their taste.
What are some great sources of protein in a plant-based diet.
The following are great sources for protein from a plant-based food diet: legumes such chickpeas, beans, and chickpeas. Also, soy products such as tofu, tempeh, and grains like quinoa, teff, nuts like almonds, walnuts and cashews. Seeds such as pumpkin, sunflower, and green leafy vegetables such as spinach, kale and broccoli. Many of these plant-based proteins provide fiber in addition to essential micronutrients like vitamins and minerals. The addition of omega-3 fatty acids from flaxseeds or chia seeds to a plant-based diet can help to balance nutrient levels.

How do you navigate social situations when eating a plant-based diet
It is not easy to transition to a plant based diet. You will need to manage social situations like dining out with your friends. To ensure you can stick to your chosen dietary lifestyle while still having enjoyable meals, take proactive steps before dining out. Before you dine out, confirm the options. Not all restaurants are vegan-friendly.
Begin a conversation with your family and friends about your favorite food items. This will reduce the chances of making mistakes when ordering. You can have faith in your chef and trust their judgement when making vegan dishes. If necessary, you can chat with them to help them better understand your needs.
You can help make a difference by bringing along healthy snacks and drinks to vegan events. Even the smallest gestures in regards to veganism will be appreciated by your non-vegan friends.
It can be difficult to navigate social situations while following a vegan diet. It becomes second nature. You'll eventually feel it.
