These rolls are the perfect vegan snack for any celebration. These rolls are loved by vegans and non-vegans. You won't have any leftovers.
Ingredients you'll need
Crescent Rolls Believe or not, many canned crescent rolls accidentally are vegan! Both Pillsbury and Immaculate Baking Co. offer options. It is still a good idea to check the label just in case.
Vegan cream cheese:This is the base of the filling for jalapeno rolls. Kite Hill and Tofutti cream cheese are our favorites, but any plain non-dairy cream cheese will do. If desired, you can use our Homemade Vegan Cream Cheese recipe.
Mozzarella-style Shreds: While we used Follow Your Heart, Violife Daiya and Miyoko’s also offer mozzarella-style shreds. You can also use shreds of cheddar cheese. Our Stretchy Vegan Mozzarella cheese recipe may work as a homemade vegan substitute, but we've not personally tested it.
Vegan bacon: Homemade or store-bought vegan bacon will work. Try our other vegan bacon recipe: Tempeh Bacon or Tofu Bacon.
Jalapenos : The more seeds that you add, the spicier your rolls will taste, so make sure to prepare them according your audience's spice preferences!
Dipping Sauce:We drizzle these rolls in our creamy cilantro-lime sauce (recipe and instructions are included below). You can also serve these rolls with our Vegan Garlic Aioli or Garlic Truffle Aioli.

How to make vegan jalapeno popper rolls
Prepare the jalapeno-popper filling. Combine the tempeh bacon, jalapenos and cream cheese in a medium bowl. Set aside.
Roll out the dough for crescent rolls. Roll out one tube of crescent roll dough to create a large rectangular shape on a clean surface. Use your fingers to gently combine the seams on the crescent rolls dough.
Spread the cream cheese filling on top. Spread half the cream cheese over the dough. Leave a 1 inch border around the edge.
Roll the dough into a tight roll. Roll the dough starting at the short end, pinching seams along the way.
Cut into 6 rolls. Cut the log into six equal pieces with a sharp knife and place in a baking dish lightly sprayed with cooking spray.
Repeat steps 2-5. Roll out the second crescent roll tube, spread the cheese filling on top, roll and cut. You should end up with 12 rolls after repeating the process.
Rolls can be pressed down slightly. Place a piece of parchment paper, or a baking tray on top of your rolls. Lightly press to flatten.
Bake. Bake. Remove the parchment paper and transfer the jalapeno rolls to a preheated over. Bake for 32-35 mins or until golden brown.
While the rolls are baking, prepare the cilantro lime sauce. Prepare the cilantro lime sauce while the rolls are baking. Combine the vegan sourcream, green onions and lime juice in a small bowl. Add salt, garlic powder and black pepper. Stir until well combined. Add 1-2 teaspoons water to the sauce and stir.
Serve at a room temperature. After the jalapeno rolls are baked, remove them from the oven and let them cool down to a temperature that is slightly warm or at room temperature. Then drizzle generously the cilantro lime sauce over the top. Enjoy!

FAQs about Recipes
These jalapeno Popper Rolls are spicy.
You don't have to worry if you do not like spicy food! The cream cheese will be a lot less spicy if you remove the seeds from the jalapenos. If you're serving this to children and want to keep them safe, substitute the jalapenos for green bell pepper.
Can I make the appetizer gluten-free?
Most crescent rolls in stores are not gluten free. If you find a vegan and gluten-free brand, please give it a go! Browse our Vegan and Gluten Free recipes. There are many vegan appetizers to suit your dietary requirements!
Storage Instructions

Instructions
Preheat oven to 375°F and lightly grease a large 9×13 baking dish.
Prepare the jalapeño popper filling.
In a medium-sized bowl, combine the jalapeños, cream cheese, cheese shreds, and vegan bacon. Set aside.
Roll out the crescent roll dough.
On a clean work surface or cutting board, roll out 1 tube of crescent rolls to form a large rectangle. Using your fingers, gently merge the seams of the crescent roll dough as best you can.
Spread on the creamy filling.
Take half of the cream cheese filling and spread it over the dough. Leave a 1-inch border around the edges.
Roll into a tight log.
Starting on the short edge, carefully roll the dough, pinching the seams as you go.
Cut into 6 rolls.
Using a sharp knife, cut the log into 6 even pieces and place them in the baking dish lightly greased with cooking spray.
Repeat steps 2-5.
Roll out the second tube of crescent roll dough, spread on the cheesy filling, roll, and slice. After repeating this process you should have 12 rolls total.
Press down rolls slightly.
Place a sheet of parchment paper or a baking sheet on top of the rolls and lightly press down to flatten them slightly.
Bake.
Remove the parchment paper, then transfer the jalapeño popper rolls to the oven and bake in a preheated oven for 32-35 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown. Cooking time may vary depending on the brand of crescent rolls that you use.
Prepare the cilantro lime sauce.
While the rolls bake, prepare the cilantro lime sauce. In a small bowl, combine the vegan sour cream, green onions, lime juice, finely chopped cilantro, salt, garlic powder, and black pepper. Stir until well combined. For a thinner sauce, add 1-2 teaspoons of water and mix through.
Serve at room temperature.
Once the jalapeño popper rolls have baked until golden, pull them from the oven, let cool to lightly warm or room temperature, and drizzle generously with cilantro lime sauce. Enjoy!
Notes

Frequently Asked Questions
What can you do to replace meat in a plant-based diet.
You can substitute meat with inventive vegan alternatives. Tofu and seitan (wheat Gluten), tempeh or fermented soybeans can mimic traditional meats. Vegetarian vegetarian burgers made with black beans and/or quinoa taste just like beef burgers. Additionally, coconut bacon strips or eggplant bacon bits; tofu mayo; veggie hot dogs made with seasoned textured soy protein; and faux chicken strips from wheat gluten offer tasty alternatives that do not require animal products. Recipes can be altered to include fruits and vegetables as well. There are many other ways to enjoy plant based meals, including roasting, baking, and steaming.
Are plant-based diets more expensive than other diets?
Plant-based diets might not be as expensive as other diets. Eating a balanced plant-based diet without spending much money depending on the type and quantity of foods you eat is possible. For example, grains, beans, eggs, nuts, and vegetables like potatoes can be quite affordable and provide an excellent protein source for lower overall costs. Furthermore, with proper meal planning, buying in bulk or taking advantage of sales may help reduce overall food expenses. Apart from individual ingredients, you can also save money by purchasing ready-to cook plant-based meals.
Is it possible for a plant-based diet to help you lose weight?
Yes, you can lose weight with a plant-based lifestyle. You can eat a variety of fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts, seeds, whole grain, and other plant-based protein sources to provide enough volume without having to eat unhealthy fats or carbs. A well-rounded vegan meal plan is usually low in saturated fat and cholesterol-containing foods like red meat and processed snacks that tend to add weight instead of take it away. Research shows that eating a plant-based diet can help increase metabolism and decrease the risk of obesity. Eating healthy foods rich in fiber and avoiding starches, sugars, white bread, and pasta can further help weight loss and provide essential vitamins and minerals that the body needs to be healthy.
What are some fantastic sources of protein that can be found in a plant-based lifestyle?
The following are great sources for protein from a plant-based food diet: legumes such chickpeas, beans, and chickpeas. Also, soy products such as tofu, tempeh, and grains like quinoa, teff, nuts like almonds, walnuts and cashews. Seeds such as pumpkin, sunflower, and green leafy vegetables such as spinach, kale and broccoli. Many of these plant-based protein sources also provide fiber, as well as essential micronutrients like vitamins. You can balance your nutrient needs by adding omega-3 fats to plant-based foods like flaxseeds. chia, walnuts, and hemp seeds.
Statistics
In the United States, poor-quality diet is the most significant predictor of early death, according to an article published in the May 2017 Journal of Geriatric Cardiology. (everydayhealth.com)
A study found that livestock provides just 18 percent of calories consumed globally but takes up 83 percent of farmland. (forksoverknives.com)
How do you make plant-based meals that are both delicious and filling?
Plant-based recipes can be delicious and filling if you have the right ingredients, prepared well and creative recipe. It is important to start by purchasing fresh produce, and other quality ingredients. Also, it is important to create a grocery checklist based upon the recipes. You should also purchase the appropriate storage equipment in order to preserve freshness of pre-prepared food items.
Next, when it comes to meal prepping, focus on variety: emphasize whole foods like fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and legumes - aiming for different colors of produce for better nutrition. Each meal should contain a balanced amount of fiber, protein, and healthy fats. Furthermore, utilize kitchen appliances such as slow cookers and multi-cookers for optimal efficiency - batch cooking simplifies preparing meals in advance.
It's possible to be creative while following a vegan diet. You can experiment with different flavor profiles. Adding spices such as chili powder and cayenne pepper to dishes can make them more delicious while keeping them healthy. Whole foods over processed substitutes can transform plant-based dishes from bland to flavorful in just minutes. Think beans instead imitation meats or roasted butternuts squash instead of french fries. If all else fails you can mix leftovers from earlier in week to create something new.
With these tips, anyone can enjoy a delicious and nutritious plant-based diet without sacrificing taste or fullness.
